YouTube finally brings the craziest feature to Malaysia

YouTube is the most used streaming platform in the world. According to statistics, there are daily 2 billion active users who watch video on the YouTube platform. Back in 2014, YouTube introduces YouTube Premium to countries such as in the US. After five years, YouTube is finally bringing YouTube Premium to Malaysia.

In case you don’t know what is YouTube premium is, it is one of the best features on YouTube. With this premium feature, you can watch any videos without any ads interruption. Besides that, you can also play your videos in the background too. This is something really many of us wanted for such a long time. Until yesterday, you can’t play videos in the background for both iOS and Android. When you turn off the screen, the video will be stopped. However, starting today onwards, if you subscribed to YouTube Premium, you can play it in the background.

At this moment, YouTube Premium is being priced at RM17.90 per month. But, don’t worry YouTube is offering its premium feature free for up to 4 months. But, do note that the number of months of free trial is depending on the device you are using. For example, iOS users could only use the YouTube Premium feature for 1-month only. Whereas, for Android users could use this feature for at least 4-months. Furthermore, YouTube is also offering a family plan option at RM26.90 per month. It allows you to add up to 5 family members into one account.

How to activate YouTube Premium?

Activating YouTube Premium is very simple. All you need to do is open your YouTube app from either iOS or Android. Then tap on your Profile icon which is in the top right corner. After that, you have to select either Get YouTube Premium or Paid Memberships to activate this feature. Now, you will be redirected to the payment channel for you to activate YouTube Premium. During the free trial period, YouTube will not charge any amount until the end of the trial period.

Facebook very seldom make changes to its logo. When it makes changes it totally gives an impact. A few days ago Facebook unveils its new logo for its other brand company. The current Facebook logo still remains the same. According to Facebook, it creates this new logo to differentiate between Facebook and the other companies which it bought.

Facebook’s new logo just says “FACEBOOK” in a capitalised word. Facebook says this new logo is designed for clarity. It uses all-new custom typography to create a visual distinction between the company logo and the app logo. On its newsroom page, a gif image shows a wordmark that displays in multiple colours. It has a few colours in it such as blue for Facebook app, green for WhatsApp and a mixture colour is for Instagram.

Say bye to “from Facebook”

Facebook says that it will be launching this new logo in the coming weeks. If you notice the current Facebook-owned apps design, it just has a tagline “from Facebook”. Soon this will be changed as shown below “from FACEBOOK”. So if you are expecting the bold blue Facebook wordmark.

BREAKING: Huawei to regain access to Google apps

It has been almost six months since the United States government bans Huawei from doing business with US tech companies. Since then, companies such as Google and Microsoft have stopped their business with Huawei. This has cause Huawei sales to drop drastically.

However, today there is a piece of official news from the US Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, says that sooner Huawei could be regaining its access to the US tech companies. Which means Huawei can start its business once again with US tech companies such as Google and Microsoft. According to Wilbur Ross, the talks between China and the US regarding the trade deal is getting a very positive response.

If you notice Huawei’s latest Mate 30 series, it is not equipped with any of the Google apps and services. This has caused much frustration to the Huawei fans. Imagine, you not able to download your favourite apps or games from the Google Play Store. This has given a huge impact on Huawei. At the same time, Huawei also previously reveals that it could be porting its own Harmony OS for its smartphones if the US government continues to ban Huawei in the US by the end of 2019.

During Ross interview with Bloomberg, he has stated that the US is planning to mitigate this issue by offering licenses for the companies. Without this licence, Huawei could not continue its work with the US tech giants. As of now, the licenses have not been issued yet, but Ross strongly states it will come “very shortly”.

Looks like finally, Huawei Mate 30 series smartphone could be getting Google updates very soon.

After Apple and Amazon reach $1 trillion-dollar company, Google joins the race too. With such a huge valuation tech giant company, it can acquire any company it wishes at any time. Officially today Google announces that it is acquiring the world’s most famous wearable company.

Do you know which is the most famous wearable company? Well, the answer is Fitbit. Google has officially acquired Fitbit for $2.1 billion today. The US tech giant made the official announcement via its blog. The Google SVP of devices and services, Rick Osterloh says that Google is planning to invest in Wear OS and wearable devices which are Made by Google.

According to Google, Fitbit will be completely owned by Google. This means Fitbit will not be a separate division under Google. With this can we expect Google to rename Fitbit as Google Fitbit or Google Fit? Previously, when Google rebrands Nest, it was later named as Google Nest.

On the other side, Fitbit has also released its official press statement. From the press statement, Fitbit has mentioned that it takes its users privacy for health and fitness seriously. Neither of the health nor the fitness data will be used for Google ads.

Until today, Google has not ventured into the wearable technology. This could be its first step to launch a new Google smartwatch later next year. Besides that, Fitbit has already smartwatch such as the Fitbit Versa. Now, with Google software integration into Fitbit hardware, it can make the Fitbit watch smarter. Google believes this could be the best alternative to the Apple Watch.

In conclusion, Google soon will be introducing its own smartwatch. We can expect Google to unveil its first-ever smartwatch next year around October 2020. It has only been a few days since Samsung reveals the concept design of a foldable flip smartphone. Samsung shows off its vision to develop a new foldable form factor for a smartphone during its annual Samsung Developer Conference in San Jose.

As we looked at the video, many of the tech bloggers confirmed it could be the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2 design. The reason we said was that back in 2018 when the South Korea tech company reveals a new foldable design phone, everyone was very sure that Samsung is going to unveil a new foldable smartphone. As expected, Samsung reveals the Galaxy Fold.

But, now we receive the latest information saying that Samsung will be unveiling a new flip phone. However, it is not the Galaxy Fold 2. It is called Galaxy W20 5G. This could be the new Galaxy series Samsung plans to unveil. And if this phone is revealed, it would be a direct rival with the upcoming Motorola RAZR.

Besides that, we also got to know that this foldable flip device is expected to launch on November 2019. During the same month, Motorola will be unveiling Motorola RAZR on November 13 in Los Angeles. Currently, there is still no information from the South Korean company yet.

But looking at the leaked image at the top, China Telecom could be the main telco provider to sell the phone in China. China Telecom is one of the famous telco provider company which is similar to Maxis and Celcom in Malaysia.

Finally, here is the first look of Motorola RAZR

In a few more weeks, Motorola will be unveiling the most awaited clamshell smartphone, Motorola RAZR. This is the next foldable smartphone to launch after Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X.

Before the official launch itself, there are already many leaked photos which show the Motorola RAZR flip smartphone. The most recent leaked photo we have it from the famous serial leakster @evleaks. Now, we have the complete image of the Motorola RAZR. Besides that, we also have a few other photos from another online source.

From the leaked images, we know the housing design is 90% similar to the classic Motorola RAZR. The major difference would be instead of having the keypads inside, the phone is completely full display when you flip it open. Besides that, there is a small button could be seen when you flip the device close. We are assuming this button is used to flip the RAZR open. We wish Motorola could be using the same mechanism to flip it close. That would be something unique.

Other than that, as we said previously, the small screen will be mainly used for the notification purpose only. On top of the small screen, there is a single camera bump which looks like the Motorola RAZR could be only having a single main camera. The specs of the camera are not revealed yet.

At the moment, the official specs are not revealed yet. But, looking at these photos we can say the Motorola will probably have a tall 22:9 aspect ratio display. Furthermore, if you view at the Motorola RAZR sideways, it looks thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Fold. With this, we can also assume the battery size could be smaller than the current Galaxy Fold.

Pricing and Availability

It is also rumoured that the Motorola RAZR will be priced at USD1,500 (~RM6,257). Even though it is considered an expensive smartphone, but if you compare it with the Galaxy Fold, its much cheaper. Foldable smartphones are the future, and Samsung is wishing to be part of it very badly. A few days ago, Samsung reveals its plan to unveil another foldable smartphone which flips similar to the upcoming Motorola RAZR.

In conclusion, Motorola will be announcing Motorola RAZR on 13th of November 2019. The event is planned to take place in Los Angeles. For more official information stay tuned with us. We will update you all once we receive official information from Motorola itself.

As we are nearing to the end of 2019, many smartphone makers are slowing down their products announcement. But, it looks like Xiaomi has another product to launch before the end of 2019. By this time, we are sure many of you have already known that Xiaomi will be launching the CC9 Pro in China next week.

Apart from the CC9 Pro smartphone, Xiaomi is also prepping to unveil its new smartwatch. To be honest, Xiaomi new wearables totally imitates the design of the Apple Watch. The design is almost similar to the previous series of the Apple Watch. Apple has changed the design of the Apple Watch with the launch of Apple Watch Series 4 onwards.

Here is Apple Watch Series 1 and Xiaomi Mi Watch side by side comparison. It has the similar digital crown and a physical button below it.

Xiaomi will be unveiling its smartwatch on 5th of November in China. The name of it is still not confirmed yet. But it is going to be called either Xiaomi Watch or Xiaomi Mi Watch. According to Mijia, which is the sub-brand of Xiaomi noted that Xiaomi new smartwatch is able to work even without a smartphone with you. This is almost similar to the Apple Watch Series 5 which support LTE via the eSIM.

Pricing and Availability

At the moment, neither the pricing nor the availability is unveiled yet. However, it is speculated that Xiaomi’s new wearable does come in two colours which are Black and Silver. One thing we can assure you all is it will be way cheaper than the Apple Watch.

We know there are still many of you are still using iPhone 5. Some of you are still using the iOS 9 or iOS 10 on the iPhone 5. Now, here’s our note for you. Please update your iPhone 5 immediately as soon as possible (ASAP). At first, you might think this is total nonsense. But if you are not updating your iPhone 5 then we are really sorry for you all.

If you want your iPhone 5 to be not usable, then probably you can ignore this message. But if you are planning to continue to use your iPhone 5 then you must update your iPhone iOS ASAP. A few days, ago, Apple has updated notice on its Apple Support website regarding the iPhone 5 software update. Apple is insisting all iPhone owners update their iOS to at least version 10.3.4 by November 3 12 A.M UTC.

The main reason Apple is rushing every iPhone 5 owners to update to iOS 10.3.4 is because of the GPS rollover issue. Ok, now we know many of you are really confused right now when we say GPS rollover issue. Let us explain to you what is GPS rollover.

What is GPS rollover?

GPS rollover is an event where devices go crazy after 19.7 years to be exact. The last time GPS rollover issue happened to devices was on August 1999. The most recent GPS rollover happened on April 2019. The GPS systems record each of the weeks as a 10-digit binary number. Which this is equivalent to 1,024 weeks. During this time, most of the phone features such as GPS and Emails become unusable.

Although the GPS rollover happened in April, Apple has immediately all its devices to the latest iOS update. Despite releasing the software update, Apple has told that it wouldn’t cause any issues to iOS devices until November 3 2019. But, now Apple is aggressively insisting iPhone 5 users update their iPhone to iOS 10.3.4.

If you update this following iOS update, you can continue to use the App Store, iCloud, email and web browsing service. Unless if you are stubborn, then we are sorry because you going to miss all the useful features on your iPhone 5. Updating your iOS is a very simple thing. All you need to do is go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to update your iPhone 5.

Well, what if you have an iPhone 4s or iPad 2? Then you confirm will be losing the GPS capabilities. According to Apple, only 9% of the users are still on the previous iOS 10 version. So if you have an iPhone 5 we really salute you for still using it until now. Don’t forget to update your iPhone 5.

Samsung shockingly reveals Galaxy Fold 2 design

Samsung Galaxy Fold is the latest smartphone from the Korean tech giant. Despite having screen issues which were reported back during the beginning of this year, the Galaxy Fold finally goes for sale globally. Galaxy Fold is the world’s first foldable smartphone. Based on the same design, other smartphone makers such as Huawei has unveiled the Huawei Mate X.

In just within a month launching Galaxy Fold, Samsung has already started working on the next Galaxy Fold 2. Samsung plans to continue the foldable phone design for its upcoming years’ phone. Now, Samsung reveals that it is already working on the next foldable concept smartphone through a YouTube video. Samsung reveals its plans during its annual developer conference which happens in San Jose.

It’s going to be Samsung vs Motorola

From the video above, you can easily notice the left side is the current Galaxy Fold and the right side is the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2. Similar to the Galaxy Fold the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2 will be having two displays. This upcoming foldable device looks more like a clamshell device. Motorola will be unveiling the classic RAZR smartphone during the first week of November. We can say both Samsung and Motorola could be unveiling the next clamshell device which could be the next trend for the foldable smartphone.

Samsung could be unveiling the Galaxy Fold 2 as soon as next year February with an additional punch-hole screen. This round you can expect the exterior to feature a smaller display. This smaller display will be used for notifications purposes.

In conclusion, it is confirmed Motorola will be unveiling the Motorola RAZR flip smartphone ahead of Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 launch. Although Samsung has already shared the concept of smartphone design officially, we still not 100% sure that Samsung could be unveiling Galaxy Fold 2.
