Over 267 million Facebook users data exposed

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Facebook spills hot water again by exposing over 267 million Facebook users data. This time it seems like this is the worst data leaks ever the company has ever had since it was founded. The data which are exposed are the users’ personal details such as their phone number and names.

This data breach was first found by a cybersecurity firm named Comparitech and a researcher named Bob Diachenko. According to the cybersecurity firm, these huge amounts of data leak has been leaked on the web publicly. Seems like the hacker who uploaded the Facebook users’ database is left open without any authentication. This means anyone can access and view the details publicly without entering a password.

According to Comparitech, this data is not exposed overnight. The data was first indexed on 4th December. Then on the 12th of December, the hackers uploaded the database to a hacker forum. This is where publics can easily download the database file. Two days after, Diachenko found out about the database and reported to the ISP provider who manages the hacker forum server. The main reason Diachenko notifies the ISP provider because of the hacker forum belongs to a criminal organization. The good news is the ISP providers have already removed the database from the hacker forum.

Here’s the statement from Facebook:

We are looking into this issue, but believe this is likely information obtained before changes we made in the past few years to better protect people’s information.

How hackers obtain this data?

According to the Comparitech, this could be done by doing the data scrapping. Data scrapping is a process where you can collect data from every web pages and copy it into the database. Back before 2018, developers can access to Facebook users information using its API. This causes some hackers to create apps to access Facebook users’ personal data. The evidence shows the source of the data breach could be from Vietnam says Diachenko.

After 2018, Facebook has already restricted developers to access Facebook user’s phone numbers via its API. However, Diachenko finds out that, there is a loophole on its API where it allows hackers to access to Facebook user’s data using the Facebook developer access.

What you should do if your data is exposed too?

The very first thing you should do is head over to the Facebook Settings page. Then click on the Privacy page on the left side and change all the fields to either “Only friends” or “Only me”. The last step is make sure you disable the search engine option. And you will be good to go. This will prevent hackers from scrapping your Facebook data.

Huawei P40 Pro will be launched in Paris on March 2020

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Paris has been Huawei’s favourite place to unveil the upcoming Huawei P40. Huawei unveils both the Huawei P20 Pro and Huawei P30 Pro in Paris. Now, we are hearing that, Huawei is already preparing to launch its latest flagship device, Huawei P40 Pro in Paris on March 2020.

Whenever it comes to Huawei, they are one of the best selling smartphones in the world. The main reason for its smartphone success is because of its AI cameras. Back in the Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei was the first smartphone makers to introduce the triple-camera setup. Sooner after that other smartphones maker such as Xioami, Oppo and Samsung have followed Huawei’s footsteps.

When you look at the Huawei P30 Pro, it was famous for its zooming feature. The Huawei P30 Pro features the 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom. Even though Huawei was not the first one to reveal these feature, but still when Huawei unveils it, people we mind blown by the AI cameras and the zooming features.

According to Huawei, the reason Paris is chosen as the best place to unveils the Huawei P series is because of the classical architectures. You can easily see many people takes tons of pictures in Paris due to its iconic architectures. Especially if you are a person who likes capturing photos, then you will love going to Paris too.

What to expect from Huawei P40 Pro

The one thing I would expect from the Huawei P40 Pro is there wouldn’t be Google service support in the phone. As we said on our previous article, Huawei has to unveil its own OS as soon as possible. That’s really bad for Huawei business because most of our accounts are created with our Gmail. Without the Gmail, you can’t really sync all your emails or photos to the new Huawei P40 Pro.

The other things you can expect from Huawei P40 Pro is the video feature. Huawei Mate 30 Pro features the world’s first ultra slo-mo with 7680fps. There aren’t any smartphones which are able to shoot at the 7680fps. Well, maybe we can really see if Huawei is really planning to introduce this slo-mo feature to the Huawei P40 Pro.

Apart from this, a huge battery is one of my expectation. The reason is Huawei always introduces its smartphone with better battery life. I am personally looking forward to the next-gen fast charging technology from Huawei. The other reason is, a smartphone packs a huge amount of features really need to be packed with either a super huge battery or a phone which supports the fast charging technology.

Overall, these are our expectations for the Huawei P40 Pro. We will be keeping you all updated with the latest news regarding Huawei P40 Pro soon. Stay tuned for more updates from us.

YouTube Music might still be new in Malaysia but its a popular music streaming app in North America. YouTube Music app is still new and now YouTube is rolling new features to the YouTube Music app. Don’t be surprised because YouTube Music will have the feature which Spotify already has it previously.

YouTube Music will now have its own personalized playlists. This is something Spotify has it long time ago itself. If you have used Spotify before, you might have noticed there should be a tab called Discover Weekly. That’s the same feature YouTube Music has now. YouTube is calling it as Discover Mix. Using YouTube’s Discover Mix, you can browse through to some of the new songs which you might not have known. If Spotify ‘s Discover Weekly updates 30 tracks every Monday, YouTube is going a step further where it updates 50 songs every Wednesday.

The other feature YouTube is rolling out is the New Release Mix. The New Release Mix features all the latest songs from your favourite artists. This is the similar feature which Spotify called it as Release Radar playlist. When it comes to Friday, Spotify updates its Release Radar playlist. Whereas, fro YouTube Music, the playlist will be updated every week. Even mid-weeks as well YouTube will be updating the playlist. This is something personal, I am looking forward to it. Before the release itself, few users have already tried both the Discover Mix and New Release Mix.

Besides that, YouTube is also rolling out the Your Mix playlist feature to its YouTube Music app. By the name itself you should have to know what is this feature is all about. Ultimately, when you install the YouTube Music app, it will request you to select a few of your favourite artist. Now, YouTube will let you know what song you should listen to your favourite artists. Apart from that, the more you use the YouTube Music app, YouTube can give more personalized suggestions to you.

In conclusion, very soon you should be able to check out these new features in the YouTube Music app. Soon we will be writing a comparison article between, Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music. Don’t forget to check that out. I will share the link once we finish writing it. For more information visit the official YouTube Music blog.

Upfront the Vivo V17 also comes punch-hole display which houses the selfie camera. The phone has a 91.38% screen-to-body ratio which almost makes the Vivo V17 bezeless. As usual, the phone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner which allows unlocking the phone seamlessly.

The rear of the Vivo V17 features a quad-camera setup which is aligned in L-shape. The quad-cameras are placed inside the rectangular camera bump. This is the first time, Vivo has arranged the camera in that following manner. Seems like this is going to be the trend because next up, Samsung also is planning to launch its smartphone with L-shaped cameras.

For the camera wise, the Vivo V17 features a 48MP wide camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and two 2MP cameras. The first one is for the bokeh lens and the other lens is for the macro shots. Whereas, the front it comes with a 32MP selfie shooter for you to take clear selfies.

Under the hood, the Vivo V17 is powered by the Snapdragon 675 processor which is mated to the 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. This is the first time, I am hearing Vivo smartphone is equipped with a 256GB internal storage. Apple’s Mac Pro cost you more than your kidneys

Reading Time: 4 minutes read

Back in June Apple unveils the powerhouse Mac Pro during the WWDC 2019. Six months later, Apple finally launches this gigantic device to the public. A few days ago, Apple officially reveals the Mac Pro price in Malaysia. You will be shocked to know price Apple sets for the Mac Pro. Are you ready to sell your kidneys?

The base model will cost you RM25,999 onwards. This model comes with the 3.5GHz 8-core Intel Xeon W processor with a Turbo Boost up to 4.0GHz. For the RAM wise, you can get 32GB (4x8GB) of DDR4 ECC memory. With just 16GB memory itself, you can already do wonders, what about 32GB RAM. Whereas for the storage wise, Apple is offering you its 256GB SSD storage. To process your graphics, the base model of the Mac Pro is equipped with the 8GB Radeon Pro 580X GDDR5 memory. And as usual, you will get the Magic Mouse 2 and the Magic Keyboard. Maybe you still can purchase the Mac Pro base model by selling your one kidney at least.

Besides this, Apple is also allowing you to configure the Mac Pro for a higher performance processor, RAM, storage and graphics. Guess what, the highest model will cost you more than your kidneys. The Apple cheese-grater is priced at RM231,608 only. Next, we will break it down what do costs you to pay this much to Apple.

1. RM30,800 2.5GHz 28-core Intel processor

First of all, to have a powerful performance desktop, you need to upgrade your processor. Apple is giving you the option to upgrade the processor to the 2.5GHz 28-core Intel Xeon W processor which can be Turbo boost up to 4.4GHz. This is already costing you about RM30,800. Imagine for this price you can easily pay the downpayment for a BMW 3 series which is the new 330i M Sport.

2. RM110,000 1.5TB DDR4 ECC memory

Apart from the mind-boggling processor, you also need to pay a hefty amount of price to upgrade the RAM. The maximum upgrade option available for the Mac Pro is up to 1.5TB. Rather than a single 1.5TB memory stick, Apple is offering 12x 128GB of memory sticks. For this upgrade option, you need to pay RM110,000. With this crazy price, you can easily purchase 15 iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB.

3. RM47,520 64GB Radeon Pro Vega II Duo

Graphic cards are one of the important chipsets for a desktop. Especially, you working for a VFX of a movie, this must be present. The highest graphics card you can add to the Mac Pro configuration is the x2 Radeon Pro Vega II Duo. Each of the graphics cards comes with a 32GB HBM2 memory. This will cost you about RM47,520 which you can easily buy a Perodua Myvi 1.3L X AT for the price of RM46,590. In order to boost the graphic performance of the Mac Pro, you can also add the RM8,800 Apple Afterburner card to your checklist too.

4. RM6,160 4TB SSD

Thank God at least the SSD storage does not cost you more than RM8,000. You will need only to pay RM6,160 for the 4TB SSD option. According to Apple, it will be also including the 8TB SSD option too soon. That for sure will be costing you more than RM10,000 at least. Are you ready to pay for it? If me I would prefer buying the new 16″ MacBook Pro with 512GB SSD storage.

Wait there’s more…

For the music producer and movie editors, you probably need to add additional RM799 and RM1,299 for the Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro X respectively. Apart from that, you need to have a monitor too because the Apple Mac Pro doesn’t come with a monitor.

Good luck with that, because you need to pay additional RM19,999 to own Apple Pro Display XDR. Do note that this is a standard glass only. The nano-texture version will cost you around RM25,999. The benefits of using the nano-texture version are it reduces the glare to the eyes. Apart from that, it also comes with a Retina 6K resolution which supports P3 wide colour gamut.

If you notice the above video, the Apple Pro Display XDR also comes with its own Pro Stand which allows you to tilt and rotate the screen. In order to add this configuration, you need to pay RM4,499. Besides the Pro Stand, you can also grab the VESA Mount adapter for RM899. This will allow you to mount your Apple Pro Display XDR to the wall.

The total price of the whole set of the Apple Mac Pro and the Apple Pro Display XDR is around RM263,005. That’s a mind-blowing price Apple has set for the Mac. Again, you need to sell more than four kidneys in order to own this masterpiece powerhouse desktop.

This iPhone app brought us back to the nostalgic moment

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Back in 2007 when Steve Jobs unveils the original iPhone, the whole world went crazy. Then gradually, Apple develops its own OS called iOS. This is where Apple ruled the smartphone industry. During this period of time, we have an app called iPod inside our iPhone. You might need to go back in time to know how it looks. But if you have used the original iPhone before, then we are sure this iPhone app does bring back the nostalgic moment again.

Thanks to the iOS developer from Cooper Union College has developed a new app which transforms the iPhone into the iPod Classic. This includes the exact virtual scroll wheel and also the album cover flow. According to the developer Elvin Hu, the whole app was created using the SwiftUI.

We are sure the 21st-century kids might not know what’s an iPod Classic is. Let me explain to you guys that first. It’s a device where you can store thousands of your songs. It was more like Spotify where you can listen to all your favourite songs. It has a scroll wheel which is used to browse through your tracks. Here is how the Apple iPod Classic looks like.

According to Elvin Hu, he couldn’t imagine whether Apple will be approving his app on the App Store. Only luck can decide whether the app will be approved. However, at the moment of writing this article, Elvin Hu himself has confirmed that his app was rejected because of having the design of iPod Classic.

Apart from portrait mode, the app also works in landscape mode. Apple called it as Cover Flow back in the iPod Classic days. Even the iPhone 3GS also had the album cover flow which some of you might have noticed this last time.

In a nutshell, this app really brings app the nostalgic moment of using both the iPod Classic and the original iPhone. If Apple would have approved this app, surely this could have been a huge hit.
