Crazy fans release ransomware to increase PewDiePie subscribers count

In case you don’t know who is PewDiePie, he is the YouTube superstar who has more than 90 million subscribers on YouTube. His original name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg who is from Sweden. He started his career as YouTuber who posts about gaming. Now he is one of the top people on YouTube. Recently, another YouTube channel T-Series is competing with his subscriber count. Both these channels is close to reaching 100 million subscribers soon.

Now, his fan or fans has released ransomware with a note “Subscribe to PewDiePie”. The ransomware name is PewCrypt which apparently blocks the users from accessing their data. According to the creator, those users will get back their account only if PewDiePie YouTube account gets 100 million subscribers. At this moment, we don’t know the total number of victims are affected by this ransomware.

Emsisoft which is the cybersecurity firms releases its own decryption tool for the PewCrypt ransomware. They allow the victims to unlock their data using this tool. According to this cybersecurity firm, the ransomware uses Java programming language with AES and RSA encryption.

Being the most popular YouTube star, he faces a lot of issues from his fans. Even the recent terror attack in New Zealand, the shooter kills 50 people in the mosque and said “Subscribe to PewDiePie”.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Buds will be on sale on April 2 onwards

With the recent launch of the Galaxy S10 series, Samsung was giving away the Galaxy Buds for free with every purchase of the Galaxy S10 smartphone. On April 2 next week, you can start to purchase both the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Buds at the Samsung retail stores nationwide. Samsung Malaysia made the announcement through its official Twitter account.

As for now, the fitness watch is priced at RM 799, whereas the wireless earbud is priced at RM499. The new Galaxy Watch Active has a Super AMOLED display and on top of it is the Gorilla Glass 3. This means the display would not break or crack easily. Other than that, the Galaxy Watch Active comes with 768MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. Samsung Galaxy Buds is cheaper than the Apple AirPods and its previous generation Gear IconX. According to Samsung, the wireless earphone able to last for 1.7 hours with a quick 15 minutes charge. Moreover, Samsung also says that the new Galaxy Buds is tuned by AKG so that you get the best listening experience. Apart from that, the Galaxy Buds charging case supports wireless charging which is same as the second generation of the Apple AirPods. Apple cancels AirPower due to not meeting its high standards

The most awaited gadget which we have been waiting for would be the Apple AirPower. The AirPower is Apple’s first wireless charging mat which will charge all your Apple devices in a single mat such as the iPhone, Apple Watch and your AirPod. The AirPower was originally revealed by Apple during the iPhone X event back in September 2017.

However, today Apple SVP of hardware engineering, Dan Riccio has given a statement to TechCrunch regarding the cancellation of the AirPower. According to him, the AirPower is not reaching its high standard. That’s the reason for stopping the project. Below is the official statement from him.

During the event in 2017, Apple said that the final product will be ship to the consumer in 2018. Then during the last year event, still Apple did not reveal any information about the AirPower. Apart from that, with the recent launch of the second generation AirPods, Apple added wireless charging for the casing. At the same time, photos were circulated behind the packaging of the AirPod, you can see the AirPower mat as a picture.

Other than that, the other reason for canceling the AirPower project could be the overheating issue which was reported by the engineering team. The surprising moment is, even The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is approving to start the production of the AirPower soon.

Apple also noted that, they are not going to stop the wireless charging development. Maybe you might have to wait for some time for Apple to realize the wireless charging device.

The only condition to use this service is you have to be a Singaporean in Malaysia or a Malaysian who like Singaporean food. Grab is planning to call the service as GrabFoodCopter. You can choose to order many types of food such as Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice and etc. According to Grab, all these foods will be delivered to you via air all the way from Singapore. The only downside would be the delivery time might vary due to the weather and air traffic condition.

This leak reveals the back of the iPhone XI

After tech giants such as Samsung and Huawei, Apple seems to be ready to go on with the triple camera for its upcoming iPhone XI (which reads out as iPhone 11). In the recent month, there was a leak which was circulating around the internet claim to be the new iPhone 11 with triple camera layout. But now, we have the the prototype frame itself claims to be the iPhone 11.

If you are planning to get the next generation of iPhone, maybe you should take a look at the design below first. It seems the placement of the camera on the back of the iPhone is very messy. However, we think Apple is planning for the asymmetrical layout. Apple always have its reason for doing certain things. Let’s wait for Apple reply on September this year.

As for now, everything is just a rumor. Nothing is proven yet. Based on the image provided by onleaks, we can see the prototype frame of the iPhone 11. The frame itself shows that it is a triple camera layout with a square shape bump. Most probably, this time the main lens could be the one in the center. Whereas, the top camera could be the telephoto lens and this time we might see Apple having the wide-angle lens too.

There are more rumors which are circulating around such as the wireless charging capability which is similar to the Huawei ones. Moreover, we also might see the next iPhone having the USB Type C connector with 18W fast charging feature.

Twitter rolls out the Dark Mode feature for iOS

Twitter is joining the Dark Mode party too today. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, delivers the new battery saving dark mode feature as promise. Today, Twitter has tweeted the announcement on its official Twitter account. At this moment, this feature is only available for the iOS app.

Most of the smartphone is now equipped with an OLED screen. Researchers believe, applying the black background to applications will help to extend the battery life. Through the Dark Mode feature, the OLED panel will only light up the region which is not black. This causes a huge amount of energy to be saved. Moreover, enabling this feature for applications will reduce eye strain for the user under the low light situation.

WhatsApp to roll out the Dark Mode feature

Recently, many application is rolling out the Dark Mode feature. Now, it seems WhatsApp is also working on the Dark Mode feature. At this moment, we are not sure yet on when it will be available to all the users. However, according to WABetaInfo, this feature will be rolling out to the Android devices first. WABetaInfo also stated that Facebook is currently fixing a few bugs before they roll out the feature as part of the 2.19.82 update.

As part of the leak, WABetaInfo also states that WhatsApp might implement the dark grey scheme instead of the black which most of the application has. As for now, apart from WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Viber, and Windows 10 mail app has rolled out the Dark Mode feature. The main purpose of having this feature is to prevent eye strains to the users when they using the app. Moreover, the Dark Mode feature is also able to reduce screen glare. This will allow users to use the application in the low light.

Apple Watch EKG feature is coming to more countries

Apple teases the Apple Watch electrocardiogram (EKG) feature in last year Apple Event. Apple promises this feature will be really helpful for the consumers and doctors. This feature was officially launched in the US in December last year. This feature was part of the Apple Watch Series 4. Now, Apple is rolling out the EKG feature to the region outside of the US. This feature will be part of the watchOS 5.2 update. At the moment, Apple is rolling out this feature to 19 countries which include European countries and Hong Kong.

If you want to enable this feature you have to own the Apple Watch Series 4 first before enabling the EKG reading feature. To enable this feature you can use your Health app on your iPhone. Taking the EKF reading is very simple. You just have to open the EKG app on your Apple Watch Series 4 and then place your index finger on the crown of the watch. What it does is, it records the EKG and your heart beat stores inside the Health app. Then you can send the PDF report to your doctor for further details on your health.

watchOS 5.2 Update

As part of the 5.2 watchOS update, Apple includes the new Hermès watch faces. Apple team also fixes a few bugs and patch the security update. This update is available to worldwide. However to make use of the EKG feature you have to be in the following countries only.

Malaysian telco providers receive more than 6330 complaints from CFM

Everywhere in the world, we always practice consumer is always right. We tend to give the highest priority to the consumer. In order to achieve this, in Malaysia, we have the Communication and Multimedia Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM). Every consumer dissatisfaction on multimedia services would complain in this website. Yearly, the CFM will release a statistics on the consumer report to the public.

Mobile service providers

CFM receives a total of 6330 complain of the category of telco service providers in the year 2018. In 2017, they receive 4746 complaints on the same category. If you do the math, you should able to know that, there is 33% of complaints increase in just a year. However, with the cooperation of the CFM and telco service providers, almost 88% of the consumer complaints is resolve within 15 days.

In the category of high-speed broadband (HSBB) providers, the number of consumer complaints increases from 714 complaints in 2017 to 2337 complaints in 2018. This category holds the highest increase compared to other categories. Based on the statement from CFM, the main cause of this increase is the high demand from the consumer for HSBB services in their area.

Other than that, CFM has recorded almost 9% of complains increases on the category of Billing & Charging. Most of the customers have given complain about the unreasonable charges, rebates and refunds, and etc. As we all know, most of the problem as a user we face is the pricing of our services given by the telco service provider. In 2017, there were only 33 complaints received regarding this issue. However, last year it shoots up to 505 complaints which is 0.14% incease.

In conclusion, as a consumer, we always have dissatisfaction with telco providers. According to MCMC, all the problems can’t be fixed overnight, it requires cooperation from various parties.
