Samsung unveils two new Galaxy Note 10

The moment we waited is here. Samsung finally unveils all two new Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ today during its event in New York. Every year when Samsung introduces the Note series, it only launches one Galaxy Note smartphones in a year. However, this year Samsung launches two new Galaxy Note 10 for its consumers. Let’s jump into the specs of these gigantic devices.

Major differences between Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+

Whenever smartphone makers launch two devices in a single event, the key difference of the smartphone would obviously be the size and the battery capacity. Yea.. you got it right! The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a 6.3″ Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display, whereas the Galaxy Note 10+ has a huge 6.8″ Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display. According to Samsung, Galaxy Note 10 features the largest screen Samsung has ever designed for a smartphone. The Galaxy Note 10 series has a 94% screen-to-body ratio where the screen is almost bezeless.

Some say the larger the phone, the more it strains our eyes. Well, the all-new Galaxy Note 10+ smartphones display receives Eye Comfort Certification from a certification institute. Back when Samsung launches the Galaxy Note 9, it introduces the S Pen which supports Bluetooth. The all-new S Pen for the Galaxy Note 10 is able to do incredible things you could ever imagine. Samsung remains a few features which are in the previous S Pen such as controlling your presentation slides and taking photos using the S Pen as the remote control device.

With the all-new S Pen, Samsung introduces Air Actions where you can control how you want to take your photos. By turning the S Pen clockwise or anticlockwise decides which camera angle you want to take the photo. This is something really interesting and we are waiting to try it soon. Other than that, you can flick left or right in the Gallery app to move between the photos. You can also control the volume of your device using your S Pen. By tilting the S Pen up and down will increase and reduce the volumes easily. You don’t have to use the volume rocker button.

The other feature of the S Pen we are sure all of you might be interested is the new note-taking feature. With the Galaxy Note 10, you can convert your instantly convert your handwriting into readable text. The Galaxy Note 10 is intelligent enough to recognize your handwriting. With that, you can export your handwriting notes into PDF or Microsoft Word document.

Samsung DeX allows you to transfer files instantly between your Galaxy Note 10 and your PCs. Samsung and Microsoft join hands together to increase the productivity of the Galaxy Note 10. The new Link to Windows feature allows you to sync all your recent photos, messages and even notifications from your Galaxy Note 10 to your Windows PC. Larger the phone, larger the storage capacity

Under the hood, the massive performance Galaxy Note 10 is powered by Samsung’s new 7nm Exynos 9825 processor. The base model of the Galaxy Note 10 comes with 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage. Pricing and Availability in Malaysia

The Galaxy Note 10 comes in five different new colours which are Aura Glow, Aura Black, Aura White, Aura Pink, and Aura Red. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 10+ comes in four different new colours which are Aura Glow, Aura Black, Aura White, and Aura Blue.

You can start to preorder the Galaxy Note 10 starting August 8 until August 18 next week. The Galaxy Note 10 will officially for sale starting August 22 onwards. It has been a week since Realme sents out an invitation to launch event of its upcoming 64MP quad-camera technology. Many of us were predicting that Realme will be unveiling the next smartphone during that event. However, now we can confirm Realme will be unveiling its 64MP quad-camera smartphone on August 15.

At this moment, we can expect Realme will be calling the next smartphone Realme 5. The main reason behind this prediction is when Realme CEO Madhav Sheth changes the name of his Twitter handle to Madhav ‘5’Quad. TechRadar reports that the Indian CEO has done the same during the launch of Realme X. He changes his Twitter handle name to Madhav X. Now looking at his current Twitter handle name, we can assure it is going to be Realme 5.

Realme China has posted the media invite on its official Weibo account. From the media invitation, we can confirm Realme will be announcing the world’s first 64MP smartphone. The reason is that the invitation shows a quad-camera setup which seems similar to the latest tweet from Realme. Realme will be holding the event on August 15 in Shenzhen, China.

Every quarter of the year, Opensignal shares its research report on the worldwide mobile network experience. Opensignal releases its new report on the topic of the smartphone, “How The Smartphone Affects Mobile Network Experience”. From the report, you can notice Opensignal did their research based on these three top smartphone brands which are Samsung, Huawei and Apple.

The main reason Opensignal picks these three major smartphones because Apple, Samsung and Huawei present in many countries. From the report, Opensignal clearly states that Samsung users tend to experience faster download speed than Apple or Huawei users. This includes Malaysia Samsung users are experiencing faster download speeds of 16Mbps. Both Apple and Huawei users, are experiencing download speed of 13Mbps and 15Mbps respectively.

Other than that, the chipset used in the smartphone affects network performance. For mid-range smartphones, the chipset used might not be as Samsung uses. Devices such as Apple uses Intel as their modem. There are many chipsets such as Qualcomm, Intel, HiSilicon, and Exynos. Samsung uses Exynos chipset which really allows its users to connect to wider frequency bands.

The tier of devices affects the network performance

Opensignal also did a grouping by tier between low-tier, mid-tier and high-tier devices. This device tiers also plays a major role in network performance. From the report, we can know that high-tier Samsung devices provide fastest download speeds globally of 26.6Mbps. Devices such as Apple high-tier devices able to provide a download speed of 25.1Mbps. All the high-tier devices use LTE Cat16 and above, whereas the low-tier and mid-tier device uses LTE Cat15 and below.

Comparing the LTE Cat16 smartphones with the rest of the world, high-tier devices in Malaysia able to reach the download speed of 19.9Mbps. Other mid-tier devices which use LTE Cat5 to Cat15 able to provide an average download speed of 13.8Mbps whereas for low-tier devices which uses LTE Cat4 and below could only lower download speed of 12.3Mbps.

In conclusion, the chipsets used in a smartphone really affects network performance as well. As Samsung will be introducing Galaxy Note 10 tomorrow, we can expect a greater download speed in Malaysia as it will be using Samsung’s new Exynos processor. Back in 2017, Apple launches iPhone X which is Apple’s 10th generation iPhone. In the iPhone X, Apple removes the most significant security feature, Touch ID and replaces it with Face ID. Apple is the first smartphone maker to introduce facial recognition feature in the smartphone. However, now time changes as other smartphone makers to reintroduce the fingerprint scanner technology on their smartphone.

Apple 2021 iPhone will have both Face ID and Touch ID

According to Apple’s most noted industry analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple might be planning to reintroduce the Touch ID in the 2021 iPhones. The 2021 iPhones will be having the Touch ID with an in-display fingerprint sensor. There is no doubt Apple will be dropping Face ID facial recognition technology on the iPhones. The Chinese analyst says Apple will include both Facial ID and Touch ID technology in the 2021 iPhones.

Last year, Vivo is the first smartphone maker to introduce the in-display fingerprint sensor on a smartphone. The technology first appeared in Vivo X20 Plus UD. However, the world’s most valuable company has filed a patent on the in-display fingerprint technology back in 2017 itself. Until today, there isn’t any of Apple’s product incorporated with the in-display fingerprint sensor technology.

Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that Appl most likely will be using the ultrasonic fingerprint sensing solution which is similar to Qualcomm’s. Most of the times, Apple prefers to reinvent features rather than inventing newer features. We can expect Apple to reinvent the in-display fingerprint sensor technology. The analyst also noted that by introducing both the Face ID and the Touch ID makes hacker difficult to imitate both a person’s face and fingerprint.

In conclusion, in two years time, Apple could possibly introduce the first iPhone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Although this improves the security level of a smartphone, technologies are still vulnerable to hackers. For now, let’s focus on what Apple has in store for the iPhone 11 which will be unveiled next month September.

TM introduces Unifi Air and Unifi Lite for Streamyx customers

Last week, TM invites the media for its next #khabarbaik event. The main reason for this event is to list out the solution to tackle its Streamyx customer’s issue. Two months ago, the Minister of Communication, Gobind Singh has instructed TM to propose a plan within one month. One month later, TM has unveiled its Streamyx plan pricing will be reduced during the Kembara Digital Malaysia event.

Today, TM has unveiled all the information’s about its new plans, especially for Streamyx customers. The first announcement Unifi CEO, Moharmustaqeem Mohammed says is all about the rumoured Unifi Air plan. The new Unifi Air plan is specially made for its beloved Streamyx customers. The Unifi Air plan starts from RM79 per month. This price is only applicable to Streamyx users only. Other users might need to pay RM129 per month to subscribe to this new Unifi Air plan.

Unifi Air comes with unlimited quota

During the event, he has also revealed more information about the router itself. Unifi will start to roll out the Unifi Air plan starting today onwards. At this moment, TM says Unifi Air is only available to 35,000 customers only who are within the LTE coverage area. Moreover, the new Unifi Air plan will be operating at 2.3GHz TDD frequency. For the speed-wise, Unifi says customers should be able to access the Internet at the speed of 20Mbps and Unifi is providing unlimited quota for its users.

Before introducing this plan, TM has invited a few Streamyx customers to try out the Unifi Air plan. According to TM, many of its devices have been shipped to many of its Streamyx customers. Since its a plug-and-play device we are expecting users can directly use it at their home easily. The Unifi Air plan will be served to all the non-unifi residents primarily.

RM69 for all Streamyx customers

Apart from the Unifi Air plan, Unifi also introduces Unifi Lite plan for its current Streamyx customers. Do you remember when TM announces it will be reducing its current broadband plan from RM160 to RM69? Yes, TM has given us more information about this plan. The main reason TM introduces the Unifi Lite plan upon receiving a lot of complaints from Streamyx customers. Other than that, TM says the Unifi Lite is an interim solution before TM rolls out Gigawire to rest of its customers nationwide in 2021.

Previously, we have received a lot of questions from our reader regarding the RM69 reduced pricing. Good news to you, the RM69 per month is fixed to all Streamyx customers. This means if you have been paying RM120 per month for your current Streamyx broadband plan, next month onwards, you will have to pay only RM69 per month. Broadband packages below RM69 will remain at the same price.

Previously, all of us are expecting Huawei to name its operating system as Hongmeng OS. Then, a few weeks ago Huawei spokesperson confirms Hongmeng is not the replacement for Google’s Android operating system. Now, China’s Global Times reveals that Huawei might be revealing Hongmeng OS at its developer conference.

Huawei will be holding its annual developer conference this week Friday on the August 9 in Dongguan, China. As we said previously, Hongmeng OS is mainly focused on IoT devices. This means we are expecting the Hongmeng OS to be lightweight. According to Reuters, Huawei will be using Hongmeng OS for its Honor smart TV.

The China news company, says that Huawei is developing Hongmeng OS for a smartphone which very likely to debut later this year. Moreover, it is claimed that Huawei will be unveiling the Hongmeng OS smartphone alongside with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro which could be unveiled later this year. For now, the Hongmeng OS is being tested by the team.

A few days ago, we quote that Realme will be introducing the world’s first 64MP quad-camera technology on August 8. However, things are changing now as its competitor Xiaomi’s sub-brand has sent out media invites to launch the world’s first 64MP camera technology. Redmi will host the event on August 7, which is a day before Realme plans to announce the 64MP quad-camera technology.

During the event, we can expect Redmi to demonstrate camera capabilities. Xiaomi will be organizing the event at its image processing laboratory. This is where the whole engineers are working on the 64MP camera technology. At this moment, it is still unclear whether we can expect a Redmi smartphone during the event on Wednesday.

Both Realme and Redmi will be using Samsung’s GW1 image sensor for its smartphone. The 64MP image sensor is currently the highest camera sensor Samsung has created for a smartphone. It uses the Tetracell technology, where you can get a brighter 16MP images under low light situations and crystal clear 64MP images in daylight shots.

Our current smartphone supports emergency contact feature where you can tap on the Emergency button from the lock screen. Then you can dial the emergency contact number. Soon this will be changed in Android phones because Google is rolling out its new text-to-speech feature for emergency calls.

According to Google, it will be rolling out this feature to Pixel phones and other Android phones too. This feature will be very useful when a person is injured or during a dangerous situation. Even if a person unable to verbally communicate during the emergency situation can use this feature to contact the emergency operator.

How Google text-to-speech works?

Google always like to make things simple for its users. You can contact the emergency helpline by tapping on “Medical”, “Fire”, or “Police”. This can be done directly on the Phone app. Upon tapping either of the buttons, an automated voice service will be started and it will alert the operators based on the types of emergencies.

Calling emergency without

During an emergency situation, you can expect to have a good data connection to contact the emergency helpline. However, Google will be fixing this issue where the feature works easily even without a data connection. The moment, when the caller taps on either of the three options, the current GPS location will be shared to the operator. Other than that, the caller’s plus code will be shared to the operator too. With this, the operator can locate the caller’s exact location.

In conclusion, Google will be rolling out this feature to its users in the US soon. Google will roll out exclusively to the Pixel phones. Then in the coming near future, Google will roll out this feature to selected Android devices soon.
