Avengers Endgame arrives with drones in Kuala Lumpur

Avengers Endgame is the most awaited movie of the year arrives today in Malaysia. As a reminder to all the nations and fans, Marvel lights up Kuala Lumpur night sky with 300 LED drones over the air.

The light show features all the important Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. Malaysia earns the Malaysia Book of Records for “The Most Drones Used in a Light Show”. Apparently, this LED drone light show technology was first developed by Intel. Intel unveils this technology during the CES 2018 event.

Facebook Terragraph now covers 40 locations in Penang

YTL communications and Facebook agreed to work together back in February to trial run its first ever gigabit wireless network in Penang. The Terragraph network mainly covers Georgetown city which is the UNESCO World Heritage city. The trial run starts from March 1 onwards. In the mid of March YTL discloses the location’s where the public can use the YTL Terragraph network.

Now, YTL reveals Terragraph WiFi network covers 40 locations in Penang. Apart from that, almost 160 city lamp post around the Georgetown area is installed with the Terragraph nodes. During the trial run, more than 4000 users access to the Terragraph network whereas, the returning user rate is at 60%. That is almost half of the users. YTL claims that each user is able to access the Terragraph network with a 170Mbps download speed and 160Mbps upload speed.

In conclusion, the Terragraph network could be one of the best public Wi-Fi network available in Malaysia. According to YTL Communications, the highest consumption of data per user is 5GB. Facebook uploads 1.5 million emails without its user consent

During the beginning era of Facebook, all newly registered users have to use the email method to verify their Facebook account. Now, it turns out to be Facebook has already removed this verification method during the users sign up process. However, recently, it seems more than 1.5 million emails have uploaded to Facebook through the email verification method.

As for now, Facebook clarifies that all the emails are not shared with anyone else. At the same time, Facebook says its already starting the process to delete all the emails. If your emails are on the list then you should receive a notification from Facebook.

Facebook agrees storing ‘millions’ of plaintext passwords

Last month, Krebs on Security finds that millions of Facebook user passwords and thousands of Instagram user passwords are stored in plaintext. Today, Facebook corrects their fact by saying “millions” of Instagram users password is stored a plaintext instead of thousands.

TM limits 60GB quota for 30Mbps Unifi Basic Plan

After extending the unlimited quota for the Unifi Basic Plan for one month, now TM has ended the offer. This means starting today, Unifi Basic customers will be limited their data quota to 60GB per month. After the quota finishes, customers Internet speed will be reduced to 512Kbps.

However, for your convenience, TM offers add-on plans where you can throttle your internet speed back normal by purchasing 1GB of data starting from RM10. TM also introduces a new add-on data plan. If you purchase the RM50 data plan, you are entitled to unlimited data quota from Friday until Sunday. After Sunday, the add-on data plan could not be used anymore.

TM suggests that customers who are heavy users should consider upgrading their Unifi plan to the Unifi 100Mbps plan. This package has an unlimited quota and unlimited calls to TM fixed line numbers. All of this TM offers for the price of RM129 per month.

A few weeks back TM also introduces the 100Mbps plan which offers Unifi TV with all channel access for RM159 per month. Looks like TM is really working hard to convince their Streamyx customers to upgrade to Unifi packages.

The most awaited event of the year is happening now at Putrajaya. The official 5G Malaysia Showcase event is officially launched by our honorable Prime Minister, YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad. Second gen AirPods is now available for sale in Malaysia

In case you have been waiting for the second generation AirPods, it’s now available for sale in Apple Malaysia online store. With some minor improvements, Apple launches the AirPods last month. Exactly, after one month, Apple launches the second generation AirPods in Malaysia.

Peeling off protective layer causes damage to the Galaxy Fold

Before the Samsung Galaxy Fold goes on sale on April 26 in the US, the Korean tech giant sents out few units to tech reviewers to give their reviews on the Galaxy Fold. One of the tech reviewers receives it was MKBHD, who is one of the famous tech reviewers on YouTube.

The Galaxy Fold comes with a thin layer plastic which looks like the default screen protector which Samsung provides. However, if you remove it without noticing there is a tiny warning written as “ATTENTION: The main screen includes a special protective layer. Peeling off the protective layer or using any adhesives on the main screen, such as screen protectors or stickers, may cause damage.” then your first foldable phone will be damaged.

When the famous YouTuber, MKBHD tries to peel it off, his Galaxy Fold screen suddenly goes haywire and black-out by itself. Few of the people notice the warning on the packaging, but according to MKBHD, his packaging was not written the warning message. Many tech reviewers who removed the protective layer has caused their phone screen to damage. Apart from that, MKBHD also replies saying that most probably the Huawei Mate X also could face the same issue as the Galaxy Fold because of the exposed screen.

GrabFood expands to five more cities in Malaysia

There are many food delivery service available in Malaysia, such as DeliverEAT and FoodPanda. Grab started its GrabFood delivery service in Q1 of 2018. Today, after turning to one, GrabFood will be expanding to more cities in Malaysia. Grab says it is one of the Malaysia’s fastest growing food delivery service which covers more than thousands of popular restaurants.

In order to use the GrabFood, you have to download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Starting today, Grab will start to integrate GrabFood app into the single Grab app. Currently, Grab app is mainly used for hail and ride service only. According to Grab, they are expecting the whole app migration to complete by mid of May. Once the migration is complete, users can start to use the Grab app to order food online.

Country Head of Grab Malaysia says this integration will bring more benefits to users who use the GrabFood ecosystem. Part of it is, users should be able to view current promotions, restaurant closing times, rating and distance. Users who use the Grab app can easily redeem their Grab points in a single click. Other than that, customers can also contact the delivery rider via the GrabChat service. With all these integrations, Grab is expecting the food delivery service to increase by 2x.

Apart from that, Grab also announces they will be expanding the GrabFood delivery service to Penang, Melaka, Johor Bharu, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu after introducing in the Klang Valley last year. Grab says the process of expanding will begin April 22 onwards. By introducing the GrabFood delivery service, its growth has increased by 30%. This also means GrabFood has completed more than 2 million food deliveries.


OnePlus 7 to be unveiled on May 14

The OnePlus 7 will feature a 6.4-inch screen with a waterdrop notch front camera. At the backside, it has a dual rear camera which supports 48-megapixel sensor as the primary camera. Whereas, for the OnePlus 7Pro it will have a 6.64-inch curve display. That is almost 0.2-inch larger than the OnePlus 7 screen size. The OnePlus 7Pro will feature pop-up front camera. The back will have a triple-camera setup which has a 48-megapixel camera sensor.
