This teardown proves Samsung Galaxy Fold has issues

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Last week after tech reviewers reports on the screen issues, Samsung has finally decided to postpone the Galaxy Fold launch. Samsung has postponed the launch globally including Malaysia. Samsung has requested tech reviewers to return the test unit. One of the tech reviewers, iFixit has given a full teardown treatment for the Galaxy Fold. From this teardown process, iFixit has found a few issues.

Thanks to iFixit they have discovered a few areas where problems can occur. First of all, if you spoil the Galaxy Fold, then you should forget repairing it. This is because the phone is almost impossible to repair. The repairability score it receives is 2 out of 10. The Galaxy Fold has a slim plastic frame which has gaps when the screen is folded. You have to be very careful where dust can easily enter into the Galaxy Fold. Not only that, but there are gaps also at the back of the hinge where dust can enter easily. The shocking part is this is the first Samsung smartphone which is not IP rated. This means the new Galaxy Fold is not dust and water resistance.

Unlike the dull slabs of glass we're used to, this smartphone/tablet hybrid has lots of potential entry points—and not the good kind.

The main reason Samsung postpones the Galaxy Fold is the protective layer which peels off easily. However, iFixit has given its suggestion where Samsung can extend the plastic layer until underneath the slim plastic frame. This will prevent the Galaxy Fold protective layer to peel off easily. Other than that, iFixit also has provided us a closer look at the hinge design. Samsung adds two hinges to the Galaxy Fold where one is on the top and the other one is at the bottom. This hinges can absorb the torsion force.

Each half of the display is adhered to a thin metal support plate, which in turn is adhered to the phone's frame. This leaves the center spine free of adhesive for a wider-radius fold.
Next up: the magic hinge that makes all of the engineering wizardry possible. Let's count it down:

In conclusion, we hope by delaying the launch of the Galaxy Fold, Samsung will take its time to strengthen the display protection. Let’s see whether Samsung fix this issue in the final commercial unit. Apart from that, Samsung has also said they will update the launch date of the Galaxy Fold sooner. For now, you can check the complete teardown of the Samsung Galaxy Fold on the iFixit website.

Now you can become Avengers too with Morphin app

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

When we were kids, being a superhero is all we have been thinking off. Now there is an app it. You can use the Morphin app to morph your face into the Avengers characters. There are many characters available such as IronMan, Captain America, and Spiderman.

Apart from the app there is also a website where it allows you to morph your face to your favorite Avenger character by using the Morph app technology. However, this is not the official Marvel product. The Morphin app has more characters you can try with such as Dr. Strange, Austin Powers and Game of Thrones.

When you try to swap your favorite character faces, the app will ask a few questions while waiting for the GIF to generate. The questions will be based on the character you have chosen. Most of the time, it only takes about 30 seconds to complete the whole GIF. If you think about it, actually it is not long though because the app turns your image into a 3D model. Then it applies lightings to your face and then only it animates it. You can create the GIF and share it with your other apps such as WhatsApp and Twitter.

We did try the app by morphing Mark Zuckerberg face into Dr. Strange and IronMan. That seems good though!

As the Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame movie releases, the Morphin app will give you the suggestion to try the AvengeThem website for full 18 Avengers characters. The Morph was launched last month for both iOS and Android.

In conclusion, if you are a crazy fan of Avengers, then maybe you should download the app now and give it a try.

After the completion of the recent Apple and Qualcomm lawsuit issue, a teenager in the US is suing Apple for $1 Billion (RM4,132,500,000 ). This is because the teenager was wrongly arrested for stealing Apple products at its Boston outlet. According to Ousmane Bah, 18, Apple’s facial recognition wrongly identifies him as the thief.

According to him, this whole issue starts the moment his driver’s permit was stolen. After stealing Bah’s driver’s permit, the thief went to the Boston Apple Store and steal Apple products worth of $1200 (RM5000). Soon the thief was caught by the police, Apple’ security takes the photo of the suspect and Bah’s personal information which is from the stolen driver’s permit. After taking all this information, Apple concludes Bah is the person who robs the Boston Apple Store.

The US law enforcement arrest Bah at his residence in New York. However, Bah proves himself that during the day the thief robs the Apple Store Bah was at his prom night in New York. At the same time, he also says he hadn’t been to Boston before. Later inspecting the security video footage, the detective finds out that Bah is not the suspect.
