Android Auto design gets Dark Mode

Google will be having its 2019 I/O developer conference today in the US. Malaysians can watch the live stream of the event midnight around 2 am. Before Google makes official announcement of its car infotainment system, Google has updates the Android Auto design by having Dark Mode feature by default. This was not available in the previous version of the Android Auto.

As part of this new refresh design, Android Auto will have a navigation bar at the bottom of its user interface. Previously, it only has a static button on a black background. This new version of Android Auto will allow apps to take over a section of the navigation bar rather than taking over the full screen. If you are using Google Maps as your navigation app, rather opening in a full screen, now the navigation bar will show the next step in the turn-by-turn directions.

There are more updates to the Android Auto which Google will announce today during the I/O developer conference. According to Android Auto Product Manager, Rod Lopez, the changes of the design is to help its user to get tot he road faster and also to simplify common task while they are driving. According to Google, apart from the design changes, Android Auto also can now automatically continue playing media and open your navigation app as soon as you connect your Android smartphone to your car.

Microsoft to launch full Linux kernel on Windows 10 soon

Recently Microsoft joins the $1 trillion company club after Apple and Amazon. Today Microsoft is having its annual developer Build conference at its Redmond Campus in Washington DC. During this two days conference, Microsoft will be announcing new updates to its products. Microsoft surprises its fans by announcing to ship a full Linux kernel to Windows 10.

According to the Microsoft Program Manager, Jack Hammons, Microsoft will start to include the Linux kernel on Windows 10 starting this year summer. Microsoft will include it under the Windows Insiders builds where early beta testers can test the Linux kernel. They also announce the kernel will be based on the latest stable version which is 4.19.

Microsoft is taking a huge step forward by integrating the Linux kernel into Windows 10. Apart from that, Microsoft also announces developers can receive updates of the kernel from the Windows Update itself. Additionally, it will be fully open source, where developers can create their own kernel and contribute the changes to the Linux kernel community. Windows 10 users can expect this update to be available later this year.

In conclusion, sooner developers can really start their contribution on the Linux kernel without Linux OS. Other than that, Microsoft also announces its new Windows Terminal app today. It is a new command line tool for Windows which is designed to be the central location for access to environments utilities such as PowerShell and CMD. Axiata Celcom announces to merge with Telenor Digi

Today Axiata finally announces that they will merge with Telenor Asian operations to create a new global champion that will be based in Malaysia. As for now, the merging process is still in the baby stage where discussion between these two entity is happening as we speak.

Digi has seen a drastic fall of prepaid users have either switch to a different service provider or they have terminated their mobile number. More than 400,000 Digi subscribers have found their exit door from Digi within the month of January, February, and March. By combining both Axiata and Telenor operations, network quality could be improved tremendously throughout Malaysia.

Once the merging is completed, it will create a true Malaysian Champion which soon it will be the largest telco service provider in Malaysia. Malaysia is already working on the upcoming 5G network technology. The merging of Celcom and Digi will create a vast opportunity to establish the largest Innovation Centre in the region. This covers both IoT and 5G.

In conclusion, after the merging Telenor will be the majority shareholder of 56.5%, whereas Axiata will have 43.5%. What do you think about this merging? Mozilla working to fix Firefox extension bug

Yesterday since 8 am morning, Firefox extension is not working to all users worldwide. Neither the existing nor the new extension is not working. Users are not able to install new extensions too. Mozilla has replied this whole issue is due to certificate expiration and it is working to fix the issue immediately.

According to Mozilla, they are already rolling the fix to the users. This fix will be automatically applied in the background within a few hours. Mozilla also emphasizes that users would not need to take any additional steps before making add-ons working once again. If your extensions are not working, you should not try to delete or reinstall the extension because it might remove the accumulated data.

Asus to unveil notch-less ZenFone 6

Back in February, Asus teases its ZenFone 6 during the Mobile World Congress 2019 at Barcelona. On February 2, Asus tweets on the launch of the ZenFone 6 on its official Twitter page. From the invitation, it shows a tagline “defy ordinary” with a person walking.

From the picture above, it is confirmed the ZenFone 6 will have neither a notch nor a punch-holes in the screen. This means the possibility of having a popup selfie camera is very high. Asus did not reveal the complete details about the front camera mechanism. It looks like the ZenFone is completely bezel-less except the top part there is a slight gap for the earpiece.

At this moment, the technical specifications are not confirmed yet. Most probably, the processor it could use the Snapdragon 855. We are expecting the RAM should be at least more than 8GB. This is because the previous ZenFone model was having an 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The Asus ZenFone 6 might have 512GB of storage.

Asus also uploads a teaser video of the ZenFone 6 with the launch event details. From the video, we know the event will take place in Valencia, Spain on May 16. Asus will be streaming the event live on its official website at 8.00 pm Spain time. That’s around 2.00 am in the morning of May 17.


OnePlus 7 Pro leak shows bezel-less display and specs reveals

In another two weeks time, OnePlus will be announcing the OnePlus 7 series smartphone to the world. Part of the changes of this event would be where OnePlus is expecting to announce the OnePlus 7 Pro at New York. Recently, a journalist from the Wired UK has got the chance to try out the camera of the OnePlus 7 Pro. This confirms OnePlus is really working on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Now the official One Plus 7 Pro smartphone pictures are circulating over the Internet.

The pictures from the Internet is the same as the ones from the one which leaks a day ago. The new OnePlus 7 Pro has a full bezel-less display. This means as the rumor says, OnePlus implements the popup camera mechanism for the selfie camera. OnePlus CEO once refers to the next OnePlus smartphone as a breakthrough panel. According to WinFuture, the OnePlus 7 Pro will feature a faster, 90Hz refresh rate for the display where it will give the users a smooth experience for animations.

OnePlus 7 Specifications

Apart from the rendered images by WinFuture, GSM Arena has also provided us the complete specifications of the OnePlus 7 smartphones. First of all, OnePlus 7 Pro will feature the 6.64″ Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. Pictures in it are going to look way sharper and crispier. Whereas, for the OnePlus 7 will feature a 6.2″ Full HD+ AMOLED display with a top notch for the camera. Since the OnePlus 7 Pro has the popup selfie camera, it won’t have the notch in the top of the screen.

Other than that, both the OnePlus 7 smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor. The default model of the OnePlus 7 will have a 6GB RAM whereas the OnePlus 7 Pro will have a 10GB RAM. For the camera wise the OnePlus 7 Pro has a triple camera setup. The OnePlus 7 has only the dual camera setup. Otherwise, both back main camera comes with a 48MP sensor. However, GSM Arena didn’t reveal the spec for the telephoto lens at the rear.

Furthermore, both these devices support the USB-C type for charging the device. The OnePlus 7 Pro will get a 4,000mAh battery whereas the standard ones will get slightly lower capacity at 4,150mAh. The OnePlus 7 series smartphones will be running the latest Android Pie with its own OxygenOS skin for the top layer.

Facebook redesigns its Messenger app

Moreover, Facebook also brings the watch feature to the Messenger app. Whenever you are away from your friends or family, you can use the new Watch feature where Messenger will allow you to watch videos together with them in real time. You just have to share the video from the Facebook app to the Messenger. Then invite the friends you wish to watch the videos with. While you are watching together the video, you can even message and have a video chat also. This is something totally unique feature where we are expecting from Facebook.

Messenger desktop app

Facebook also announces to roll out Messenger for desktop during the developer conference. Nowadays, people use the Facebook messages feature to communicate with their friends and family. This can sometimes interrupt their work as they have to keep on switching their window tabs. With the desktop app, Facebook says, users, can have group video calls, collaborate on a project or multitask while chatting without stopping their other works. As for now, Facebook is still testing the Messenger desktop app.
