This was not available in the previous version of the Android Auto.

As part of this new refresh design, Android Auto will have a navigation bar at the bottom of its user interface. Previously, it only has a static button on a black background. This new version of Android Auto will allow apps to take over a section of the navigation bar rather than taking over the full screen. If you are using Google Maps as your navigation app, rather opening in a full screen, now the navigation bar will show the next step in the turn-by-turn directions.

According to Android Auto Product Manager, Rod Lopez, the changes of the design is to help its user to get tot he road faster and also to simplify common task while they are driving. According to Google, apart from the design changes, Android Auto also can now automatically continue playing media and open your navigation app as soon as you connect your Android smartphone to your car.

In conclusion, let’s wait for more updates from Google. If your car supports Android Auto then you will receive the OTA update during this summer.
