Xpax: RM 1 for unlimited high-speed data

Today, Celcom announces its new “Ultra Hour Pass” add-on for its Xpax prepaid customers in Malaysia. Prepaid users will just have to pay a minimum of RM 1 anytime to enjoy this unlimited high-speed internet. Since there is no speed cap, users can watch any HD videos as long as their data quota doesn’t deplete.

Apart from that, Celcom is also offering this starter pack for RM10 only. It comes with a 10GB of high-speed internet for your social apps such as Facebook and Instagram. By paying RM8 you can use this unlimited internet for a whole day without any data cap.

Celcom is also offering its monthly Ultra Pass plans to its prepaid customers. By paying RM30 per month, you can get 5GB of high-speed data with additional features such as iFlix VIP Access and also Data Rollover. For the Data Rollover, you can carry forward your unused base data to your following month. This is something really useful. Last time, we have to worry the data package will expire but now, we can stop worrying about it at all. On top of it, Celcom also offers unlimited late-night YouTube video for free from 1 am to 7 am.

Asus reveals ZenFone 6 features in a morse code

Asus will be unveiling its new edition of the smartphone, ZenFone 6 at Valencia, Spain. A day before that, OnePlus will reveal the new OnePlus 7 series smartphones too. Asus plans to have the event on May 16, 2019. However, two days ago, Asus tweets a picture of the ZenFone 6 which gives us several ideas on what could be the features of it.

Possible Features

From the image on the tweet above, it is clearly seen that the new ZenFone 6 will be having the Snapdragon 855 processor. Other than that, Asus also plans to retain the headphone jack on this new smartphone. One the left side, there is a triple slot where you can insert both your SIM cards and additionally a microSD for the expandable storage. On the top right side of the phone, there is a notification LED and a smart key. At this moment, we are still not sure the purpose fo the smart key yet. We will update you once there is an official explanation from Asus itself.

There is also a picture circulating on the Instagram where Marcel Campos, the Head of Global Marketing Operations for ASUS posted a picture on his official Instagram account. If you notice on the description of the picture below, there is a Morse code which we retrieve it using the Morse code decryptor.

Upon converting the message, this is the message we get in the Portuguese language.

According to AndroidPure, the text with the number appears to be the information which we wanted. The “855” represents the Snapdragon 855 processor which will be used to power the Asus ZenFone 6. Then “4813” represents the camera sensor information. Probably the Asus ZenFone 6 will come a with a dual camera setup of a 48MP + 13MP camera sensors. The last number “5000” represents the battery capacity of the ZenFone 6 which is 5,000mAh battery will be included in this smartphone.

Android Q beta is coming to 15 Android devices

The next version of Google’s mobile operating system is Android Q. Every year, Google names its operating system by using food names such as Android Pie, Android Lollipop and Android KitKat. This year, Google didn’t give any code name for its 10th operating system. During the 2019 Google I/O developer conference, Google announces to release the latest version of Android Q beta to all Google Pixel including 15 other smartphones manufacturers such as Sony, Nokia, OnePlus, LG, Asus, Vivo, and Xiaomi.

Latest Features

Part of this beta version, Google releases new features such as the Dark mode feature which activates across the whole operating system. Other than that, Google also added iPhone-like gestures such as the back swipe and forward swipe. This means on the Android Q you can start to swipe from bottom to top same as you do in the iPhone to reach to your home screen or to view your list of opened apps. Google is also bringing its Live Caption feature to the Android Q beta. We can say this is the most impressing feature of the Android Q latest beta. Last year, Google launches Live Transcribe which converts your speech to text. This Live Caption feature is built on top of this same technology. However, according to The Verge, you might not be able to save your text as transcripts in this new feature. Below is the sample feature tested by The Verge.

In conclusion, this is the first time, Google is rolling out its operating system to various smartphone manufacturers. This means Android Q should be pretty much stable already. We can expect Google to roll out this operating system by the end of this year. Note that, this software is for developers only. However, you can still download this software to test the latest feature. The chances you might encounter bugs is slightly high. Huawei unveils P Smart Z with pop-up selfie camera

The pop-up selfie camera has been very famous in smartphones now. Previously, there is a rumor circulating around that Huawei is planning to announce its first ever pop-up selfie camera smartphone. Looks like today the rumor has been true. Huawei finally follows the trend of the pop-up camera to remove the notch completely. It is naming its smartphone as Huawei P Smart Z.

First of all, the Huawei P Smart Z comes with a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. It takes about one second for the selfie camera to pop-up. If you notice in the Huawei’s website, they share the pop-up mechanism able to withstand 12kg of pressure and it is resistance over 100,000 times.

The P Smart Z comes with a larger 6.59″ Full HD+ display which doesn’t have a notch or punch-holes. As in the previous render image, it has an earpiece at the top of the phone. If you notice on the back side, Huawei didn’t follow its original smartphone design. Same as the Google Pixel smartphone, Huawei P Smart Z has a dual-tone appearance.

Since this is Huawei’s mid-range smartphone, Huawei P Smart Z comes with a dual-camera setup. The main rear camera comes with a 16MP f/1.8 and the second camera comes with a 2MP camera sensor. As usual, photos are assisted by its own AI where it is able to recognize more than 500 scenarios in 22 categories in real-time. The AI processing is being done by Huawei’s Kirin 710F processor.

The Huawei P Smart Z features a 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage. P Smart Z has a 4,000mAh battery to power the smartphone. You can get this smartphone in three colors which are Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Sapphire Blue. Other than that, Huawei also retains its 3.5mm headphone jack with its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

In conclusion, the official price of the Huawei P Smart Z in Italy is EURO 280 (RM1,299). What we understand is, Huawei might release this smartphone in Malaysia too as the new model of Nova smartphone. At this moment, Huawei did not mention when the phone will reach to the consumer markets.

Previously, we got to know Apple next iPhone XI will have triple-camera setup. Now, looks like Apple is planning to add a dual camera setup for the 2019 iPhone XR. The current iPhone XR has only a single camera at the rear. Based on the rendered images below, the iPhone XR will have the triple-camera setup with a larger camera bump.

This leak is from the famous leaker @Onleaks. He shares the renders of the 2019 iPhone XR on his Twitter account.

The new iPhone XR will be having the same thick bezel as the current iPhone XR. The camera bump is almost similar to the iPhone XI which will be releasing together on September 2019. The only difference between these two iPhones is the camera setup. The iPhone XI will come with a triple-camera setup and the iPhone XR will have a dual-camera setup. Since most of the smartphones now are having the ultra-wide-angle lens, Apple might also follow the same trend.

In conclusion, what we can expect from Apple is the new iPhone XR is going to be identical to the current iPhone XR. The only changes could be the camera setup. Rest is still the same. Google teases it’s working on a foldable smartphone

We all know that Samsung is the first one to serve the consumer market with a foldable smartphone which is the Samsung Galaxy Fold. However, ended up Samsung had to hold off the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Fold due to the problem with its screen layer which peels off. Other than Samsung, Huawei also announces that they will launch their first foldable smartphone, Huawei Mate X. Now, during the 2019 Google I/O developer conference, Google reveals that it is working on the foldable smartphone too. As for now, it is still under the prototyping stage for quite some time.

It looks like, we might expect Google to launch the first foldable Pixel next year. Google actually already reveal to support the foldable display of the upcoming Android operating system. After watching Samsung fails again, Google might take a longer time to launch the foldable Pixel.

Google says there are 2.5 billion active Android devices

Google launches its own operating system back in 2008. Now after ten years, Android is the most used devices in the world. During 2019 I/O developer conference, Google announces there are at least 2.5 billion active Android devices. That’s more than the population of China. This statistics shows the popularity of the Android operating system in the world.

According to Google, the number is purely based on Google’s Play Store statistics. Imagine this does not include other China Android devices. If we take those devices under consideration, then the number would have increased up to 3 billion active Android devices. Back in the 2017 Google I/O conference, Google announces it has reached 2 billion active Android devices. This announcement was made during the launch of Android Q beta 3.

In conclusion, Google Android devices are cheaper than Apple devices. This is the main reason the numbers are more than iOS active devices. Let’s wait for Apple’s WWDC event where Apple will share its devices usage statistics.

Google Lens will recommend foods to eat at restaurants

Google launches Google Lens back in 2017. It is a camera app which uses image recognition technology to identify objects and read QR codes. During Google I/O 2019, Google announces that it will be built into the Pixel Camera app itself.

Starting at the end of this month, you can use the Google Lens feature in restaurants. You just have to show your camera to the menu and Google Lens will recommend the foods at the restaurant. Tapping on each individual dishes you can see the photos and reviews which is taken from Google Maps. Other than that, Google is also adding the feature to calculate a tip and bills splitting. You have to show your camera to your receipt and it will show you the menu to calculate the tip and you can split the bills easily.

Apart from that, Google also tweets on the capability of Google Lens. Google shows a video on how this feature could help people who can’t read and understand signs and computer interfaces. According to Google, this feature will launch for Google Go first. In case you don’t know, Google Go is the lighter version of the Google Search app. This means low-end devices can use this app which only requires 100kb of the storage.

In conclusion, this is something really useful for everyone. People who travels a lot should able to make use of this new feature of the Google Lens.

Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL is now for sale at $399

After a lot of rumors about Google’s Pixel 3a, finally, Google unveils yesterday during the Google I/O 2019. Google unveils both the Pixel 3a and 3a XL at the most affordable price. Google’s Pixel camera is one of its outstanding feature in the Pixel series of smartphones. In order to sell these smartphones at an affordable price, they have replaced the back glass surface with a plastic surface.

Moreover, for the Pixel 3a smartphones, Google took a step down to use the Snapdragon 670 processor rather than the Snapdragon 855 processor. The storage is also limited to 64GB without expandable storage. However, it finally brings back the headphone jack to the Pixel 3a smartphones. The P3a XL will have a larger screen of 6″ Full HD+ OLED display. The smaller ones will have a 5.6″ Full HD+ OLED display. Looks like both the 3a and 3a XL comes with 4GB of RAM only.

The best part of Pixel smartphone would be the camera. As it’s still maintaining the same Pixel camera with its new Night Sight feature. It gives the best night shot and the best portrait modes on its phones. According to Google, this could be the cheapest Pixel camera than you can get. Apart from that, the 3a XL comes with a larger battery capacity of 3,700mAh whereas the 3a comes with a 3,000mAh battery.

In conclusion, if you ever wanted to use the Google Pixel smartphone, then this is a smartphone you should purchase. Google promises to give the same Pixel camera as its previous generations of smartphones. Google also promises three years of security updates for the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. Microsoft might launch its Edge browser for macOS

A few months ago, Microsoft announces to rebuild its Edge browser with a better user interface design. Then two months back, a leaked picture from Neowin shows Microsoft new Edge browser which is built on top of the Chromium project. Now, Microsoft teases it will launch the Edge browser for the macOS. A month before, Microsoft already releases the build version fo the Edge Chromium browser on the Windows platform. Microsoft yet to announce on the dates.

It teases this first look of the Edge for macOS during the Build 2019 developer conference. This is the two days event which happens in Washington in the US. As for now, there is an assurance that Microsoft will release the Edge browser for macOS very soon.

In conclusion, the Edge browser could possibly give a tough competition to the current Chrome for macOS. Probably, we can have additional Microsoft services under the Edge Chromium browser.
