Yesterday, U Mobile signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Time fibre optic provider. This memorandum is part of U Mobile 5G live trials where U Mobile will be using Time’s backhaul solution. According to U Mobile, they are really working hard to give all the benefits of 5G technology for its users.

As for now, U Mobile is planning to test the 5G network in several fields such as education, healthcare, and gaming. Currently, U Mobile is working Time to finalize the location of its 5G live trials. You might be surprised if we tell you Time is U Mobile existing partnership who is the backhaul provider.

In conclusion, U Mobile could roll out its 5G network commercially in Malaysia by 2021 to 2022. As for now, there is no specific timeline of when the 5G network will be deployed in Malaysia. According to U Mobile, it is confident that Time will be the best provider to provide its backhaul solution for its 5G live trial.

According to U Mobile’s CEO, Wong Heang Tuck, Time is the first telco provider in Malaysia and the second service provider in the world to achieve Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 3.0 certification. With that, U Mobile is confident that Time will be in the best position to provide appropriate mobile backhaul solution for their 5G live trial network.
