Intel and Qualcomm bans Huawei too

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

The United States Government has added the Chinese tech giant, Huawei into its Entity List. Right after Google blocks its access to Huawei, other major tech companies such as Intel and Qualcomm have banned Huawei from using their chipsets.

Based on the report from Bloomberg, these companies start to inform all their employees to stop supplying chipsets to Huawei. Other than these two tech giant companies, other US chipmakers companies such as Broadcom and Xilinx has ban Huawei from using their chips in Huawei devices.

As for now, there are few other Huawei smartphones which are powered by the Qualcomm chips. For Intel chipsets, none of the Huawei smartphones is equipped with it. However, Intel is supplying its processors for Huawei’s servers and notebooks. The new Huawei MateBook X Pro is also powered by Intel’s 8th Gen processor. Now, Huawei has to find a contingency plan to create its own processor for its servers and notebooks too.

In conclusion, Huawei has enough chip supplies to continue until three months. We might not know yet what could probably happen after these three months. Do you think the US government will lift the ban from Huawei? More updates coming to you.

Google blocks all its access to Huawei

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Back in 22nd January 2018, China and the United States have begun their trade war. This has affected the economies worldwide including Asia countries such as Malaysia. A few days ago, the United States President Trump adds Huawei into its trade blacklist called Entity List. This bans Huawei from doing any kind of business with US companies such as Google. Unless Huawei needs to get the US government approval ahead before conducting any business with the US companies.

Now, according to Reuters, Google is blocking all its access to this Chinese tech giant which includes the transfer of hardware, software and technical services. Reuters says Huawei can only use the public version of Android. This means Huawei could not use Google’s proprietary apps and services. This includes the Google Play Store, Gmail, and YouTube. As part of this ban, Huawei future products will not have access to the Android operating system.

At this moment, there is an assurance that existing Huawei smartphones will not be affected by this ban. All Google services will operate as usual on all Huawei’s devices. If you just bought Huawei’s P30 Pro, you don’t have to worry about this ban. Google is stopping mainly on its technical supports with Huawei.

What’s next for Huawei?

According to sources, Huawei is already working on developing its own operating system few years itself. Looks like Huawei is fully prepared for this kind of situation perhaps. If Huawei, develops its own operating system, then you don’t have to worry anymore, because China is always good at reverse engineering things. They could possibly come up with an operating system which is a hundred times better than Google’s Android operating system.

In conclusion, Google has no choice other than banning its access to Huawei. Unless the US government removes Huawei from this ban, then Google will allow all its access to Huawei again. As for now, we just have to wait for more updates from either Google or Huawei. Stay tune for more updates on this issue.

Instagram decides the future of a 16 years old teenager in Malaysia

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Social network such as Facebook and Instagram have taken all our daily lives. Being happy or sad, most of us share our emotions on the social network. Now, the social network is the one deciding whether a person to live or die. A 16 years old teenager died after falling from third floor of a shop lot in Kuching, Sarawak.

The district police told Astro Awani that the teen conducts voting on Instagram before she commits suicide. When the teen conducts the voting on Instagram, almost 69% of her followers on Instagram supported her decision to commit suicide. The teenager posted the poll as “Really Important, Help Me Choose D/L”. When most of her follower replies “D”, she dies else they reply “L”, she lives.

Before she commits suicide, she also updates her Facebook status “WANNA QUIT F**KING LIFE I’M TIRED”. According to the district police, the teenager was feeling stress since her stepfather marries a Vietnamese woman and he doesn’t return home often. One of the public finds her body around 8 pm and then the body was brought to Sarawak General Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem.

Followers need to pay the price!

Does it mean that her followers who voted her to die should be charged for death? Exactly! Penang MP, Ramkarpal Singh urges the authorities to charge those people who voted for her to die. According to him, the girl would have been alive if her followers replied her to live. Since this, is the cause of her death and it is totally an offense in this country, they have to be charged for her death. No one has the right to take a person life.

Instagram APAC, Head of Communications, Ching Yee Wong, told The Guardian, Instagram has a deep responsibility to make sure it is safe using Instagram. He urges everyone to use its reporting tools to contact emergency services when either of their friend’s life is at risk.

In conclusion, this is not the first time a person commit suicides because of the social network. Back in 2014, a 14 year old teenager committed suicide and post the picture on the Instagram when she self harms herself.

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

Most of you might not notice that Facebook removes the “View as Public ” feature back in September 2018. We are sure some of you might not know that this feature exists previously on the Facebook app. This is a feature, where you can limit yourself to display certain information on your public profile. Only your friends can view more details about you once you approve their friend request. Today, Facebook is bringing back this feature to the users.

Facebook announces this feature on this official Twitter account today. On September 2018 Facebook removes this feature because there was a bug where it allows attackers to steal your access tokens. The attackers have stolen more than 50 million access tokens from Facebook user accounts. The attacker then can view how does a Facebook profile exactly look to a specific user.

Based on the statement from the Facebook blog:

We have completed our security review and are re-enabling the version of the ‘View As’ feature that lets people see what their profile looks like to people they aren’t friends with on Facebook. This version was unaffected by the security incident and was significantly more popular than ‘View as Specific Person.’

In conclusion, sooner you can start viewing your public profile back again from your Facebook app. Facebook believes the “View as Public” feature is not affected by the same flaw which affects the “View as Specific Person”. As for now, Facebook did not enable the “View as Specific Person”.
