Is Apple’s Foldable iPhone Coming in 2026? Latest Updates

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Apple’s foldable iPhone, which could come as soon as 2026, will bend in half horizontally, according to The Information. The outlet reported back in February that Apple was developing very early prototypes of two different folding iPhones. But Apple seems to have settled on a design, the device comes with the internal codename of V68.

Apple is trying to reduce the crease that appears when the phone unfolds. The second goal is to make the device thinner. It was entirely in line with an identical report from 9TO5Mac on Tuesday, which also wrote about the foldable iPhone that Apple is working on. Also, there are unconfirmed rumors about a foldable MacBook-like device being worked on; that one is said to begin shipping in 2026.

Besides foldable, Apple might upgrade next year’s iPhone with a mechanical aperture. This feature creates a depth-of-field effect, which blurs the backgrounds and automatically keeps focus on the subject. Further, Apple is said to be working on an even thinner iPhone in the year 2025.

These developments epitomize Apple’s commitment to innovation and the enrichment of user experience. At the forefront are foldable and new camera technologies, highlighting how the brand is dealing with competition. Apple enthusiasts are looking forward to these potential game-changing devices.

Google Pixel 9: Malaysia Included in New Market Expansion?

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

The very first Google Pixel smartphone made its way to the market in 2016 and was the successor to the Google Nexus devices. Although it was much hyped, Pixel smartphones never saw an official launch in Malaysia. Well, that might change this year.

Local tech pundit Xavier Naxa let it slip that there is now a new Google subsection within Urban Republic’s online store. Currently, the subsection is empty, but its availability speaks volumes about what will transpire. The move suggests that Google will try to penetrate the Malaysian market very shortly.

Previously, Malaysia had been one of the official markets for Google consumer devices. Malaysians could get their hands on Nexus smartphones and Google Chromecast. That changed in 2016. The rebranding to “Made by Google” meant that their focus moved away from Malaysia.

Even though the Pixel 8 series was earlier released in just 22 countries, hopes are still up for Malaysia. Its selective distribution for the Pixel Fold is highly visible in just four countries. The new listing on Urban Republic’s website, however, may be a sign of change.

The much-anticipated Google Pixel 9 series is slated for launch soon. Confirmation from Urban Republic hints at a new market announcement by Google for its smartphones. The list will be announced on August 14th, and we all have to wait until then to find out if Malaysia makes the list.

Certainly, this will be a moment of cheer for Malaysian tech enthusiasts. If the Pixel range of Google’s smartphones does make it to the country, then it will revive the long-lost presence of Google hardware in Malaysia.

Google Photos and Meta AI: The Future of Document Management

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

It’s time to be smart—integrate with Meta AI. The removal of MicroSD slots has shifted focus to the cloud for backups. Now, with such a large amount of image data to deal with, gallery apps have become all the more necessary—not least so for Google Photos. Now, Google Photos is making document management on the web easy, too.

Google Photos is exemplary in the categorization of images automatically. It organizes images according to face, location, and document content. This app introduced a Documents category last November and stored receipts and letters from then on. That essentially improved document organization significantly. 9to5Google recently reported the Documents category is available from the web interface.

Google Photos

Meta AI enhances the Search functionality of Google Photos. It is quite easy to search for documents by their contents. For example, searching a restaurant’s name brings receipts with the same name. This saves time and enhances user experience.

The Documents feature in the sidebar might be a gradual rollout since it isn’t available yet; though using the direct URL does work in bringing up documents. It only brings stability and satisfaction to the user.

Very soon, Meta AI is going to integrate the ‘Ask Photos’ feature into Google Photos for a whole new level of functioning. In addition to this, enhanced intelligence will be provided for document management and better search capabilities. Stay tuned for more updates.

Meta AI’s New ‘Imagine Me’ Tool and Language Capabilities

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Meta introduces updates to its AI assistant with a new feature, Imagine Me, which will enhance its geolocation, language, and art-handling capabilities. The AI can communicate in seven new languages, which were earlier missing from Meta AI. The update will be able to engage with Meta AI users across 22 countries and from multiple devices. Meta AI is available for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook.

This AI will also appear in Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Meta Quest headsets. Meta states this will make it easy for users in a consistent experience regardless of where they are, with an AI assistant at the service of users. The new availability only increases user engagement depending on Meta AI.

Introducing “Imagine Me” Tool

Meta AI has introduced a novel image creation technology it calls “Imagine Me.” This new tool takes an uploaded image and creates a digital avatar. Apart from simply creating a digital avatar of oneself, the feature allows users to create fantasy-like images of themselves. One only needs to type “Imagine me” and then proceed to make settings.

Edit and Share AI-Generated Art

The “Imagine Me” tool has also integrated functionalities for editing. Follow-up prompts are sent so that images can be edited accordingly, hence providing much more flexibility and creativity. The art it does can also be shared on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

Meta AI (Imagine Me)

Meta has been running tests on the “Imagine Me” feature on WhatsApp. It will now be present for use across all Meta platforms. This is to onboard subscribers from other competitive artificial intelligence service providers. The new suite of tools set Meta AI apart from its competitors, such as OpenAI and Google Gemini.

The update will bring an advanced AI model, Llama 405B, to the assistant. This will, however, first be available on WhatsApp and meta.ai. It enhances Meta AI for the better handling of sophisticated questions. However, the real highlight of the expansion is the new feature “Imagine Me.”.

Spotify Introduces Hi-Fi Tier: A New Era of Music Streaming in 2024

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Spotify has maintained the top position among music streaming services. Despite competition from arch-rivals like YouTube Music and Apple Music, it has held a solid footing via playlists and more so through personalized recommendations. Other than these, the free ad-enabled tier gives a lot of traction.

More Paid Plans on Spotify

Spotify

It currently has six paid plans, Individual, Student, Duo, Family, and Audiobook Access plans. Last month, it announced a Basic plan for $11, now, it seems the app is targeting a seventh plan.

Spotify began testing a Hi-Fi tier back in early 2021. But it never amounted to anything. Of course, Tidal and Apple Music already support lossless streaming. It isn’t all bad news for Spotify users, however. A new report suggests a Hi-Fi tier could still arrive this year.

CEO Daniel Ek Confirms It

On the company’s second-quarter 2024 earnings call, CEO Daniel Ek finally talked about the Hi-Fi tier. He highlighted some amazing performance metrics Spotify has had. Ek acknowledged that there is user demand for greater audio quality.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek

Ek hinted at what the price of this Hi-Fi tier will be, stating that it may be $5 more than what the current premium tier is. That is, this deluxe version would yield higher audio quality and more control. Control details are still blurred at this point.

Ek believes the Hi-Fi tier will help raise standards in the music industry. He said, “It’s early days.” As such, users may have to be patient for a little while longer. All in all, Spotify’s new Hi-Fi tier is going to prove to be some very exciting improvements.
