Google Circle to Search is more powerful than ever. Recently, the feature gained a Share button that made sharing content much easier. And now, Google is working to roll out support for scanning barcodes and QR codes. That indeed is a big addition to Circle to Search.

The barcode and QR code scanner has been a long-expected feature. We first heard the rumors about it back in May. Later on, in June, it came to life as a demo. Now, an X post from Mishaal Rahman hints at the feature’s actual rollout.

Once that feature is turned on in your device, Google Circle to Search will automatically start detecting and scanning for a barcode or QR code. A new chip will appear atop any valid code you come across. The chip will smoothly take you to the relevant results.

Google Circle to Search

This is rolling out broadly, so a lot of users will have this shortly. If you have a supported Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy device, you can try it today. Head into a webpage or open an image that includes a QR code and use the long-press home button.

It should be on by default without any extra action to circle the code. This would make the lives of people who wish to attain information from barcodes and QR codes much easier. A huge user experience that is going to set a leading example for Circle to Search.

A live image of the US-bound model, SM-S72U, surfaced online, which shows the device undergoing routine FCC tests. The image does not give any clear view, but it is enough to let everyone know the imminent arrival of this smartphone.

The Galaxy S24 FE will arrive with some upgrades over its predecessor. To note, it will pack in reverse wireless charging at 9W, up from 4.5W. It’s also said to have a bigger and brighter display, plus an even larger battery coming in at 4,565mAh-a probable extension of playback time for videos and music. These are said to be made while maintaining wired charging at 25W speeds.

Camera-wise, the Galaxy S24 FE is going to pack the same set of shooters as the Galaxy S23 FE, it will feature a 50MP + 12MP + 8MP rear camera setup, accompanied by a 10MP front camera. While Samsung has yet to confirm the date of release of the Galaxy S24 FE, this does seem likely for October this year. This would be a follow-on from Samsung placing quite powerful devices in their Fan Edition series.

Brazil Bans X (Twitter) with Severe Fines for VPN Users

Brazil has imposed a major ban on Elon Musk’s X. The country took such a drastic measure over differences related to the dissemination of disinformation. According to the New York Times, anyone trying to circumvent the ban by accessing X (Twitter) through VPNs in Brazil faces a stern punishment. It goes all the way up to fines of almost $9,000 a day for the breach of the ban.

X (Twitter)

It happened when the government of Brazil ordered X (Twitter) to stop hosting disinformation on its site. Musk framed the directive as “censorship.” The fight escalated. On Wednesday, Brazil demanded that X identify a legal representative who is resident in Brazil. With X failing to act on the instruction after the 24-hour deadline for compliance lapsed, it was banned.

X (Twitter)

This development surely projects a question mark on the way X handled the issue. The ruling has provided evidence of the tussle between social networks and national regulations, which seems to be growing. The measures imposed by Brazil are strictly a reflection of concerns about online misinformation. The outcome is still uncertain as both parties try to get through this complex issue.

 Pixel 9 Pro Fold

What’s more, Google is offering a 40% discount on the Pixel Watch 3. It’s applicable in case of purchasing this gadget as a part of some kind of bundle. If purchased together with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, that smartwatch cost will be reduced by £200.

 Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features exclusive AI enhancements. Gemini AI sits end-to-end throughout the Pixel software. Buyers also get one year of access to Google’s Gemini Advanced features for services such as Gmail and Google Docs.
