LG Electronics has gained the world’s first CC certification for its V2X transceiver module, a major milestone. The module, supplied to Volkswagen’s MQB platform, set a new bar in automotive cybersecurity. This CC certification signified that the device by LG would feature powerful protection against unauthorized access and interference, meeting the high-security requirements.
This certification reveals that LG intends to be at the forefront of the global automotive components market. V2X technology allows a vehicle to communicate with other vehicles, traffic infrastructure, and even pedestrians. As more and more vehicles go online, security around such communication becomes paramount. LG is quite proactive against security threats regarding V2X and works hard to have component offerings kept strictly to regulations in Europe.
The VW Transceiver Module also earned an EAL 2+ rating from the Spanish National Cryptologic Centre, which substantiates LG’s capability for advanced security. This level of certification indicates a broad safety feature of the module and its wide range of reliability. As part of its endeavors, LG emphasizes commitments to safety and reliability in the connected car era.
It plans to expand its security achievements to its V2X solutions for Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle platform within the year. In sum, this proves that LG is continuously committed to attaining high standards of security with competitive automotive solutions. This achievement aims to solidify its position in the global automotive parts market.
Besides the recent certification, LG received several other important security certifications in the past. In 2022, the company gained the certification of TISAX and also received CSMS from TÜV Rheinland. These attest to the commitment of LG to the delivery of innovative and secure solutions for future mobility.
