    You can now join Astro Beta Programme to experience 4K UHD sports content

    Two months ago, Astro introduces a new interface for its Beta Programme. After that, Astro rolls out a new interface for its Astro Go app. Now, Astro has opened its public Beta Programme to other Astro subscribers to try its new 4K UHD Box and Astro Cloud recording.

    At this moment, Astro is opening this Beta Programme to Astro subscribers who leaves in the area of Klang Valley only. Do note that, Astro subscribers have to be leaving in a landed property in order to join the Beta Programme. Current IPTV and NJOI customers are not allowed to join for this Beta Programme.

    Prerequisites needed to join the Astro Beta Programme

    For you to join the Astro Beta Programme, you must own a 4K UHD TV. The reason is that this Beta Programme allows you to watch contents in 4K UHD. Other than that, Astro requires you to have a minimum connection of 10Mbps in order to have a smooth streaming experience.

    However, you need to be aware that the moment you join for this Beta Programme, your old Astro decoder will be replaced to the 4K UHD set-top-box. After the trial beta period, you can continue to use the new set-top-box permanently without paying an additional cost for the decoder.

    In case you have your old recordings in the old decoder, that will be gone forever. Astro subscribers also will be providing 1 year worth of 1,500 hours of content storage when you join the Beta Programme. With this cloud storage feature, you can record unlimited shows and then store it in the cloud. You can easily watch your recordings at any time without any additional cost.

    4K UHD streaming is only for sports content

    If you are a football lover, you can enjoy each of the Premier League matches in 4K UHD. At this beginning stage, there will be Astro UHD Channel 845 where selected sports content will be streamed in 4K UHD. Astro will gradually roll out more 4K UHD sports channels after the beta period.

    Last year, Astro announces 4K UHD channels to selected F&B outlets. So if you visit the selected F&B outlets, there are high chances for you to watch your favourite Premier League matches and Formula One racing events in 4K UHD.
