With the release of the iPhone 14 series recently, all people have been talking about is the new feature which is the Dynamic Island that Apple has incorporated into the design of its latest line-up. It has become a trendsetter to the point that Android get its own version of Dynamic Island as well.
Jawomo, an Android software developer, has released an app called dynamicSpot that will allow you to have the Dynamic Island on your Android device. A black pill-shaped bar can be used to “hide” the cutouts, giving any Android phone the appearance of having a Dynamic Island-like interface.ย
Moreover, this app offers more functionalities that can be customized. For instance, since the placement of punch holes varies between devices, Jawamo included a page in dynamicSpot’s settings where the bar’s position can be adjusted manually. So, the bar is centred at the top of the screen and disappears when there are no new alerts.
In addition to the standard single-tap and long-press operations, dynamicSpot also enables users to display the island on the lock screen of their Android smartphone. Other than that, the battery percentage can also be shown, and the progress bar can be used to alert you when the battery is full or low.
It is important to point out that some features are exclusive to the app’s pro version, which costs RM19.99 in Malaysia. However, since it’s still in development, maybe it will be improved with bug fixes and additional features soon. For those who are interested, you can download the app from Google Play Store.ย
