Mi Mix Alpha is a result of Xiaomi’s bold imagination for the future of smartphones in the 5G era. Here are the top features of the Mi Mix Alpha.
1. World’s first Surround Display
From the heading above itself, you should have an idea of how does this phone look like. First of all, with a single panel, the phone is designed. This is the word’s first smartphone to have the highest screen-to-body ratio of more than 180.6%. The phone lights up from the front to the side until the back. That’s is almost the entire display. Not to forget, back in 2016, Xiaomi was the first smartphone maker who introduces Full Screen Display smartphone concept to the smartphone market. Now, 99% of the current smartphone features the Full Screen Display. Even Samsung is one of the smartphone makers who is following the same concept as Xiaomi. By looking at the trend previously, we can guarantee you that Mi Mix Alpha Surround Display could be the future of display in a smartphone in the next few years.
Since the Mi Mix Alpha has a complete bending display, the layers such as display layer, touch panel and protection layers are laminated one-by-one. The reason is to achieve high curvature Surround Display design where the internal stress could be released layer by layer. On top of that, Xiaomi also uses a very strong protective layer to protect the screen from breaking.
If you notice in the pictures above, there are almost no bezels for the Mi Mix Alpha. The bezels only exist at the top and bottom which makes Xiaomi removes the physical button on both sides. With this Xiaomi uses haptic feedback to simulate the touch of real buttons.
2. World’s first 108MP camera
Besides the world’s first Surround Display, Mi Mix Alpha also features the world’s first 108MP camera which has the highest resolution, highest pixel count, and the largest sensor exist in any of the smartphone ever. This largest camera sensor is being manufactured by Samsung. Even before Xiaomi unveils the Mi Mix Alpha itself, there was a rumour Xiaomi next smartphone to feature a 108MP camera lens. This is the next generation camera in the era of smartphone photography.
The Mi Mix Alpha features a triple camera setup where the main camera is a 108MP camera sensor with a 1/1.33-inch large sensor. That is almost 389% larger than the current 48MP camera lens. With the 108MP image sensor, Mi Mix Alpha can capture 108MP photos with a resolution of 12032 x 9024 pixels. Moreover, it also supports four-in-one Super Pixel which can produce large 1.6μm pixel under a low-light situation.
The other camera lenses are the 20MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens. Using the 20MP ultra-wide-angle camera, you can capture 1.5cm super macro photos. Whereas the 12MP telephoto lens supports 2X optical zoom and Dual PD focus.
3. World’s luxurious titanium smartphone
The bezels of the Mi Mix Alpha which are at the top and bottom are built using aerospace-grade titanium alloy. Honestly, personally we haven’t seen any smartphone in the world is built using titanium alloy. According to Xiaomi, this alloy is three times stronger than stainless steel. Despite being built by stainless steel, it weighs very less than expected. In addition to that, the camera lenses are protected with a single piece of sapphire glass, which is embedded in the ceramic.

Pricing and Availability
Being the world’s best concept smartphone, Mi Mix Alpha will be produced starting from a small scale production first. This will begin at the end of 2019 only. The official launch date has not yet been revealed by Xiaomi. However, the Mi Mix Alpha will be priced at RMB19,999 (RM11,765).
