WeChat Pay Malaysia, or WeChat Pay MY, will be ceasing its operation. Six years ago, the service used Malaysian Ringgit. As with the business strategy adjustment of Tencent, the move was to discontinue the service. The move to discontinue the service will not affect travelers from Mainland China since they can continue using WeChat Pay with Chinese Renminbi.
New registrations for WeChat Pay MY will be closed on Aug 1, 2024. Payment services will be ceased on Sept 1, 2024. Current users can withdraw the balance until Dec 31, 2024. Starting from January 1, 2025, there will be a special arrangement for withdrawal.
How to Verify Your WeChat Pay Malaysia Account
Sign out and log back in to withdraw funds. Check your identity first. Me > Payment and Services. Click the three dots on the top right. Tap into Payment Management then Identity Verification, and follow the steps.
How to Withdraw Funds from Your Account
You can cash out the money once it has been verified. Tap on Me > Pay and Services. Now select Balance – Withdraw and add bank details by entering bank details. Scan your mobile number to complete the request. The process will take approximately three working days.
