Google has just announced Google Gemini Live, which responses in near real-time on some phones. At its Pixel 9 event, the company showed off this new feature with a much more interactive conversation interface. Choose one of ten natural-sounding voices to significantly enhance the quality of interaction.
You’ll need an Android phone running the Gemini app. On top of that, you’ll need the Gemini Advanced subscription available as part of Google One’s $20/month AI Premium plan to unlock Gemini Live.
Activation of Gemini Live is user-friendly. When called, the Gemini assistant will give you a prompt to opt into their Live feature. There is another button inside the UI of the assistant that opens an overview screen for easy setup.
Google Gemini Live has been found on devices like the Pixel 8a and Samsung Galaxy S24. This means it’s not just rolled out in one phone model, making the availability wider.
Even though the feature was promised to be available immediately, it could still be eyeing a gradual rollout. Meanwhile, it’s early sighting on several phones is an indication that a broader release may not be too far away, meaning users who meet all the requirements will get this enhanced AI capability pretty soon.
