Today Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commision (MCMC) made announcement that the official 5G showcase will be held at Putrajaya on 18 April. That is almost two weeks from today. The main purpose of this event is to give an opportunity to the Malaysians to look into the benefits of 5G in Malaysia.
According to MCMC, the 5G showcase event will be launch by the Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. On the 20 April the event is open to all the public. MCMC is allowing the public to attend this grand event for two days only. There are many areas which MCMC will be showcasing to the public such as smart city, healthcare, automotive and public safety.
Most of the telco providers such as Maxis, Celcom, Digi, and Telekom Malaysia, will be participating this event to showcase the use cases the 5G technology could be achieve. As a public you will get to see some of the real life applications such as autonomous self-driving car, remote healthcare diagnosis, and precision farming.
Although 5G technology is far from being commercially available, MCMC aims to provide a glimpse on what the 5G technology could provide to the nation. According to Al-Ishsal Ishak, the MCMC Chairman Malaysia will be one of the earliest country in Asia. This is part of the government’s National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP) where their aim is to provide high quality internet to the public.
In conclusion, in a few years time, you will experience 1Gbps of internet speed. This is the promise which MCMC gives to all its users. At this moment, all of you can attend this event on the 20 and 21 April.
