Facebook might be making major upgrades to WhatsApp

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

After Facebook buys WhatsApp back in 2014, Facebook has introduced many interesting features such as group video calls and stickers. Now, we have been hearing Facebook might be working on a major upgrade to the WhatsApp app.

One of our closest sources, WABetaInfo reveals that Facebook is working on a new feature for WhatsApp which will let you use the same account on multiple devices across multiple platforms. Soon you might also be able to install WhatsApp both on your Macs and Windows including iPads.

At this moment, you still can use WhatsApp on your computer via the WhatsApp Web. However, there isn’t any standalone app yet until now. According to the leaker, Facebook is changing the whole experience soon. Here are a few details from WABetaInfo.

  • Your main WhatsApp account on iPad (when the app will be available) without uninstalling it from your iPhone.
  • The same WhatsApp account on iOS and Android devices.
  • WhatsApp on your computer (without the necessity for an Internet connection on your phone) using the UWP app (this is one of the reasons why started to develop it).
  • It will be obviously possible to use the same account on Windows Phone (using UWP) and WhatsApp for Windows (always the UWP version).

In conclusion, there aren’t any screenshots for the leaker yet. We will update this article once we got further information regarding these upgrades.
