The government confirmed today that the tender process for the PerantiSiswa initiative’s device selection has been completed. On top of that, the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) also announced that the device offered for the program would be Samsung Galaxy Tab A8.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 LTE has a 10.5-inch screen and 4GB of RAM memory which is what is required by the government. Tan Sri Annuar Musa, K-KOMM minister explains that the table will also be covered by a two-year warranty.
The government expects to distribute the tablets under this PerantiSiswa program starting this August or in September 2022 for the first phase. As for the second phase, the distribution will begin around October or November. The K-KOMM Minister also announced earlier today that four more categories of B40 students are now eligible to receive the device through the PerantiSiswa programme.
“Recipients of PerantiSiswa in phase one are students from the B40 family group with a monthly household income of RM4,850 or less, and are currently studying full-time at diploma, advanced diploma and bachelor’s degree levels at public universities, private universities, community colleges and polytechnics under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE),” Tan Sri Annuar Musa said.
As reported by Malay mail, the application for phase two will be extended to foundation course students under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), matriculation course students, teachers training institute students, vocational training college and form six (two semesters) students under the Ministry of Education (MoE), as well as students at the Arts Culture and National Heritage Academy (Aswara) under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, who are studying at the previously established levels.
