In today’s ‘Far Out’ event, Apple launched a variety of new products, including the updated version of its well-known active noise-cancelling (ANC) earphones, the AirPods Pro 2nd Generation. The company didn’t completely alter the device but instead added several improvements and useful features while keeping its familiar design.
Speaking of improvement, Apple says the new H2 chip in the earbuds can reduce ambient noise by up to twice as much as in the previous generation of AirPods Pro. In addition, the volume of sudden, loud noises like sirens or power tools can be reduced with the new Adaptive Transparency setting. Apple asserts that its device is capable of 48kHz noise reduction.
The stems of the AirPods Pro 2 also retain the force touch controls, but they also feature touch controls for adjusting the volume, a navigation feature that was noticeably absent from the first generation of AirPods Pro. Apple also introduced new XS ear tips, which provide a more custom fit for users and enhance noise cancellation and audio quality.

As for the battery life, it increases mildly from 4.5 hours to 6 hours on a single charge, and up to 30 hours with the charging case. Other than that, the new AirPods Pro case also has MagSafe built in, just like the old one, but it also accepts the Apple Watch charger, so you never have to be without your AirPods. Using a Qi wireless charger is also an option for powering the case.

Most importantly, in the event that you misplace your AirPods, the Find My feature can help you track them down with the help of the speakers and each individual AirPod by playing a noise. Moreover, a brand-new low-distortion audio driver and customised amplifier have been integrated.
For Malaysian consumers, the second-generation AirPods Pro is priced at RM1,099 on Apple Malaysia’s website. But, Apple has not yet revealed when it will be available in the local market. So, you might want to check for updates on its availability from time to time.
