Waiting for hours in a long line just to get your passport would definitely put a damper on your day and not to mention, a complete waste of time. However, it seems that the situation is going to change!
The Selangor Immigration department (JIM) on its Facebook page has announced the new MyOnline Passport Kiosk that will help to speed things up for customers mainly during the process related to the application of obtaining a passport. The Kiosk is located at Selangor Urban Transformation Centre (UTC).
Based on the post, Selangor JIM said that they are one of the highest Malaysian International Passport (PMA)-producing offices in the country with 2,900 estimated applicants every day and about 60,000 applicants in a month.ย
Therefore, to cater to the increasing needs of customers, MyOnline Passport Kiosk is created so customers can get their passports more easily and quickly. Furthermore, the department also said that this initiative aligns with the digital world that is constantly developing from time to time.
In addition, the post also stated the categories that are eligible to utilize the kiosk facilities include applicants aged 13 years and above (who are not from the new PMA application category), the elderly and persons with disabilities. Not only that but the kiosk is also applicable to lost and damaged PMAs or students (age 21 and below) who want to further their studies abroad.
Selangor JIM expressed its hope that this innovation would be spread widely throughout the country which would greatly enhance customers’ experience.
