Huawei’s executive director, David Wang, noted that with the coming of commercial 5.5G, to a large extent, it ushers in the mobile AI era. Wang stressed that 5.5G is, to a large extent, essential for the integration of artificial intelligence across devices and ushering in a new phase of intelligent services at MWC Shanghai 2024.
Wang Emphasized how 5G evolved very fast to 5.5G with the recent announcements in standardization and deployment, more than 60 carriers were on the roadmap for the commercial launch of 5.5G to enable premium digital connectivity worldwide.
Three deep shifts, according to Wang, are taking place in the mobile AI era: multi-modal human-machine interaction, AI-native content creation, and the evolution of mobile devices into intelligent assistants. These next-generation capabilities are expected to bring a sea change in user experience across industries.
The proliferation of AI-driven interactions will exponentially increase data traffic, enormously outperforming the past decade. Wang heralds generative content and richer interactive functions as an onghest of new data-driven innovations.
As AI is integrated into IoT and smart vehicles, Wang predicts a sea change in industries concerning safety, efficiency, and user experience. Wang mentioned intelligent driving systems and further development of IoT beyond human-to-human connections.
The Huawei way of thinking is to apply AI with improved, accelerated network-based implementation and to enhance productivity with AI to improve networks. According to Wang, several upgrading efforts are needed in terms of network capabilities to support the different requirements of the mobile AI era.
As 5.5G has become the cornerstone for the future development of technology, Wang emphasized cross-industry cooperation to reach all potential of the mobile AI era. Huawei will continue innovating and working together for a connected, intelligent world.
