Meta’s WhatsApp instant messaging platform has become an indispensable tool for smartphone users worldwide. Many also employ its services on their desktops, whether via WhatsApp Web on their browsers or the specialized WhatsApp desktop application. Alongside recent additions for group chat administrators, WhatsApp has unveiled a novel desktop app for Windows that incorporates a variety of quality-of-life enhancements.

As revealed by WhatsApp and Meta, the latest version of the application has been retooled to load more quickly on Windows PCs and boasts an elegant new interface familiar to users of its mobile iteration. WhatsApp has also undertaken improvements in device synchronization and linking, delivering a seamless experience.

The updated app for Windows also enables users to host group video calls with up to eight participants, with support for hosting group voice calls for up to 32 people. Even if those figures are insufficient for your needs, WhatsApp has confirmed that it intends to boost capacity over time. Alternatively, one can always turn to the Google Meet option.

As of the time of writing, the WhatsApp desktop app for Windows is unavailable for Mac users. However, there is a WhatsApp desktop app for Mac currently in early beta testing, as per WhatsApp’s statement. Those running on Android, on the other hand, can take advantage of the new beta version of WhatsApp for tablets, which is already up and running.
