Spotify is going to increase the cost of all of its music streaming options this year. According to the new report from Bloomberg, more expensive Spotify streaming tier that may be in the works for the same period of time. Spotify seems to have discovered a fascinating feature that can make the additional expense for subscribers worthwhile, even though the new “super premium” plan is anticipated to be costly.

The individual said that access to improved audio quality and additional tools for organizing playlists and music libraries will cost customers at least US$5 (RM23) extra per month.

The option won’t have an impact on current subscription plans; instead, it will be provided as an upgrade. The new tier’s cost will vary according on each user’s base plan, but on average, it will cost roughly 40% more than it does now, the source stated.

High-fidelity audio will be available to subscribers who have upgraded. The HiFi audio function on Spotify was announced in February 2021, but its release was postponed. Since then, other services like Apple Music and Amazon Music have started to include better audio quality in their base subscriptions.

With a focus on social and shareable features, Spotify might be able to replicate the success of its well-liked “Spotify Wrapped” year-end recaps, which have grown to be significant social media attractions. Users may be persuaded that paying a premium for a customized and sharing music experience is worthwhile if the company can achieve a same level of success with its super-premium tier.

Though not everyone may find the idea of paying more for lossless audio appealing, Spotify may be counting on the mix of superb audio quality and cutting-edge playlist capabilities to lure in a sizable percentage of its user base to the premium service.

Would you be willing to spend an additional $5 per month on lossless audio or customized music curation?

Generative AI Revolutionizes Efficiency in the Oil and Gas Industry

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Far from the Microsofts and Googles of the world, a century-old industry – oil and gas – is hoping that generative artificial intelligence will make petroleum production more efficient and easier on its workforce.

Long before the current craze around generative AI (Gen AI), the energy sector was using traditional artificial intelligence through the use of data to identify oil and gas reserves.

But the industry sees greater potential to save money, reduce accidents and lower greenhouse gases through Gen AI, which exponentially increases and diversifies the data that can be analyzed.

Unlike traditional AI, which has been restricted to programmers and data analysts, the new AI systems can also be broadly utilized in the workforce.

According to Tim Hafke, a content marketing specialist at AlphaSense, “extracting this data from the vast amounts of data generated by drilling activity has historically been a major challenge for industry leaders.” “Gen AI steps in at this point.”

Refineries that turn crude oil into gasoline are among the downstream industries that have relied more and more in recent years on “digital twins,” which are computer-modeled duplicates of real facilities.

They enable businesses to conduct simulations in order to identify potential risks, evaluate operational problems at actual facilities, and carry out predictive maintenance (PdM).

During a panel discussion at the CERAWeek energy conference, Microsoft vice president Matthew Kerner described this as an introduction to generative AI and a means “to explain why the predictive model made the prediction it did” and provide context to better address the problem.

Rob McGreevy of Aveva, an industrial software business, stated during the panel that people in the field could benefit from next-generation chatbots like the well-known ChatGPT.

According to McGreevy, a data-driven chatbot might enable troubleshooting personnel in the oilfield or refinery to assess operational parameters like wellhead pressure and ambient factors like humidity in order to identify issues rapidly.

Quick fixes are possible with a thorough report that can be obtained in a matter of seconds, saving both time and money.

‘Less risk’

During refinery maintenance, “you’re putting people in harm’s way to do the work. If you can do those repairs faster, you’re going to have less risk,” said Matthew Babin, head of energy and natural resources at software company Palantir Technologies.

The Gen AI interface provides “access to maintenance manuals, so you can see how the maintenance on that device should be done,” all in plain English, thanks to a chatbot, McGreevy said.

Such a system could also facilitate the repair work itself, taking the guesswork out of decision-making.

According to McGreevey, the technology would enable a business to utilize a computer model of a facility, for instance, to ascertain whether there is enough space to erect scaffolding or use a ladder.

Another benefit, according to McGreevy, might be for incoming hires: “I think we can shorten dramatically the time it takes for people coming on board to be proficient to safely operate these facilities at scale.”

An oil facility’s carbon footprint can be decreased thanks to increased efficiencies brought about by Gen AI. However, massive amounts of electricity are also needed to run the equipment, mostly in data centers.

Elon Musk Confirms Upcoming Private Like Feature on X

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

Recently, rumors have emerged that the social media platform X will have a private like feature. This means that what users like on the platform will be hidden by default. This report was confirmed directly by the CEO of the platform, Elon Musk, he shared a post confirming that the report was true by saying

“Important to allow people to like posts without getting attacked for doing so!”

Last May, X’s technical director Haofei Wang said this change was made to help site users “protect their public image”, this decision certainly got pros and cons from loyal users.

“Yeah, we are making likes private.

Public likes are incentivizing the wrong behavior. For example, many people feel discouraged from liking content that might be “edgy” in fear of retaliation from trolls, or to protect their public image.

Soon you’ll be able to like without worrying who might see it. Also, a reminder that the more posts you like, the better your For you algorithm will become.” said Haofei Wang.

According to reports on this problem, users will still be able to see who liked their posts and the total number of likes for all posts, even though the like tab on user profiles would vanish from the website.

At the moment, members of X can conceal their likes from their public profiles by subscribing to the website’s premium subscription service, which requires a monthly minimum payment of £3.20.

According to studies, hate speech and related content on X—the original name of Twitter—rose in popularity after Musk acquired the company in October 2022. Is this among the possible causes?

Elon Musk Threatens Ban on Apple Devices Over OpenAI Partnership

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Who doesn’t know Tesla, one of the American multinational automotive and clean energy companies that is full of innovation. Recently, there has been hot news, not about Tesla’s own innovation, but about Tesla CEO’s dislike of Apple’s partnership with Open AI.

Elon Musk, CEO of the electric car brand, openly showed his dislike of Apple’s decision to use ChatGPT in integrating “Apple Intelligence” which was announced last Monday at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. He said firmly that he would “ban” his employees from using Apple devices if the technology giant continued to launch “Apple Intelligence“.

“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation.”

In a post on X, he said firmly that he would ask visitors to leave their Apple devices in a Faraday cage while visiting the store.

“And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage”

Meanwhile, a YouTuber who focuses on technology, Marques Brownlee, in his post shared a basic summary of “Apple Intelligence”, in that post Musk replied by saying that Apple uses “Third-Party” to collect user data. The statement was firmly denied by Marques Brownlee by saying that he would not provide or collect user data without permission.

“I asked @tim_cook. He said Apple at no point sends any of your data to OpenAI without explicit user permission. Video coming later”

As we know, last year Musk launched his own Artificial intelligence, xAI, a competitor of Open AI claimed to have raised $6 billion last month. As we know, Musk himself has a strained relationship with the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, and sued them for allegedly violating OpenAI’s founding agreement and deviating from its non-profit mission.

So what will happen in the future if Apple still partners with Open AI? Will this tension continue? Stay tuned to techmonquay for the continuation

Apple Unveils iOS 18 with Enhanced Apple Intelligence, A New Era of AI Innovation

Reading Time: 3 minutes read

At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 held on June 10, Apple unveiled iOS 18 as an upcoming major software update for its devices. This update introduces various new features, including a redesigned Control Center, expanded home screen customization options, and enhanced Apple Intelligence. With this Apple Intelligence marks a new chapter in Apple Innovation especially in focusing on the development of AI features and will change what users can do with their products and what their products can do for their users.

In the Conference, Apple presented the latest features that will be owned by iOS 18, starting from the simplest

Customization and Personalization

A more customizable home screen and also more flexible icon placement, in dark mode, application icons can change color to adjust to environmental conditions to make them more comfortable to the eye. iOS 18 also comes with protecting sensitive apps and information with locking and hiding features to keep user data safe.

High-tech AI-assisted Writing Tools

With the help of AI-assisted writing tools, users will be able to rewrite phrases, fix spelling and grammar errors, and summarize lengthy documents with the next iOS 18. This tool is intended to assist users in streamlining their writing process and generating excellent material faster.

In addition, a number of apps, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps, are connected with the AI-assisted writing capabilities that are available in iOS 18. This makes it easier for users to manage their writing activities because they can access these tools from anywhere they need to write.

Apple Intelligence underscores a focus on privacy and security

Apple also stated at WWDC 2024 that they are creating a new benchmark for privacy in AI since many of the models that enable Apple Intelligence operate exclusively on devices and the majority of Apple Intelligence’s processing occurs on those devices. However, Apple uses Private Cloud Compute, which expands its computing capability through the cloud powered by Apple Silicon servers, when more processing power is required for AI.

GenMoji Feature to Boost Creativity

With the GenMoji function installed, users can share photographs that resemble each other’s, which makes conversation and information sharing easier. With the use of these tools, users may easily express themselves and develop their creativity by creating graphics in sketch, illustration, and animation styles.

Updated Siri on iOS 18 significantly

Siri’s AI enhancements in iOS 18 will improve Siri’s ability to answer questions and perform more complex tasks, as well as improve integration with other apps. Siri will be able to answer queries and carry out increasingly difficult tasks thanks to generative AI modeled around ChatGPT. Siri is expected to respond to voice commands in order to carry out increasingly sophisticated functions. For example, it will be able to turn multiple photographs into a GIF and send it over Messages.

Which gadgets can use Apple Intelligence, then?

Apple acknowledged during the keynote that handling generative AI on-device requires a lot of computing power from Apple Intelligence. At this time, it is limited to iPhones that are compatible with the A17 Pro, which essentially includes the iPhone X Series, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 Series, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is compatible with iPad and Mac running the Apple M1, M2, M3, and M4 operating systems.

Let’s wait for the release of iOS 18.

Exploring the Era of ‘Apple Intelligence’ with Generative AI

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Apple is finally entering the world of generative artificial intelligence with a little help from its unexpected new partner at OpenAI.

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced Apple’s long-awaited AI at its Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino on June 10. Apple unveiled the first devices powered by “Apple Intelligence” from personalized Genmoji to a much smarter Siri. Apple also announced that it will be incorporating external AI models into its software, starting with OpenAI’s ChatGPT later this year.

Apple is using generative AI—a form of artificial intelligence that can provide thoughtful, comprehensive responses to questions—through Siri, its virtual assistant, allowing Siri to perform specific tasks like recalling a picture taken years ago on your device or answering detailed questions about the weather or the news. Users can also create personalized photos, such as taking a cartoon version of themselves. It can take actions across apps, including asking the software to take all your photos together and pulling and analyzing data from across your apps.

Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, harnessing the power of Apple Silicon to understand and render language and images, take actions across apps, and capture personal context to simplify and speed up everyday tasks.

The company said it was impressed with the generative AI tools already on the market, but wanted to make them even more personal with privacy in mind. Apple Intelligence will be designed with privacy in mind, using Private Cloud Compute technology to ensure that requests are processed on-device or on servers powered by Apple Silicon chips, running the Swift programming language, and are privacy-verifiable to Apple’s standards.

Apple Announces Partners with OpenAI to Integrate ChatGPT into Siri and Apps at WWDC 2024

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

At Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2024 held on June 10, Apple has announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Apple experiences, making it available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS later this year.

Apple confirmed that it will integrate ChatGPT-4o into Siri and other apps on Apple devices when iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia are released, combining on-device AI features with more powerful cloud-based AI applications. Apple said iOS 18, the software that powers its flagship devices, makes the iPhone home screen more customizable and includes improved versions of built-in apps.

With the moves, the iPhone maker is trying to reassure investors that it is not losing the artificial intelligence battle against Microsoft, even though it may be losing some rounds. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the move would take his company’s products “to a new level” as he opened the Worldwide Developers Conference at the tech giant’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple’s decision to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology had been widely anticipated, but it is an unusual move for a company that closely guards its own products.

The announcement was not welcomed by everyone. Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and Twitter/X, threatened to ban the iPhone from his company because of “data security.” Apple itself is facing pressure to introduce new AI features into its products as more competitors adopt the technology.
