The Evolution of the Galaxy Z Fold Series

Reading Time: 4 minutes read

Since the onset of foldable design innovations, the Galaxy Z Fold series has been setting new paradigms in the smartphone space. Way back in 2019, Samsung stretched its imagination for foldable tech, with every consecutive device thinner, sturdier, and more compact, thereby replacing the previous iteration. Major improvements have been made to the hinge designs and display protection, which are resilient.

Galaxy Fold 2019: When Foldable Phones Are Born

The Galaxy Fold, launched in 2019, heralded foldable smartphones. This device introduced a large-screen experience when unfolded and a portable one when folded.

Notably, the innovative hinge design by Samsung guaranteed natural and intuitive folding and unfolding. Folded, the thickness was 17.1 millimeters, while unfolded it was 7.6 millimeters. Thus marked it the beginning of smart foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a follow-up to the

The Galaxy Z Fold2 has been available since 2020, bringing even more innovations. Hideaway Hinge provided stable folding at various angles for the first time.

This hinge greatly enabled Flex Mode for selfies and video calls. Sweeper Technology from Samsung protected this display from dust. The folded thickness is now 16.8 millimeters thinner for better portability on the Z Fold2.

Overcoming Waterproofing Challenges with Galaxy Z Fold 3

Water resistance unfolded first on the Galaxy Z Fold3 in 2021. Samsung applied waterproofing to the Display and Hinge. It was coated with corrosion-resistant material, a silicone-based gasket, which made sure to protect it well. Armor Aluminum used in the hinge gave it added durability. Folded thickness is further reduced to 16 millimeters to make it thinner and lighter.

Design Improvement Galaxy Z Fold4

The Galaxy Z Fold4, released in 2022, enormously diminished the weight and thickness of the device. It weighed 263 grams, 20 grams lighter than the previous one.

Samsung redesigned the hinge to be 21% lighter due to the operation mechanism of linear motion. This made the folded-back thickness go down to 15.8 millimeters, the thinnest since the series began.

Dependency Injection of Flex Hinge: Galaxy Z Fold5 2023

The Galaxy Z Fold5 introduced the Flex Hinge in 2023. With this new mechanism, the display would curl into the hinge. In this design, gaps and creases are eliminated when folded.

The Z Fold5 became the lightest and thinnest Galaxy Z Fold with a folded thickness of 13.4 millimeters and weighing 253 grams for maximum portability and stability.

Samsung has been refining its Galaxy Z Fold series. Every passing year, they focus more on exact engineering and detailed manufacturing. The development of hinges and the thickness of the device have hugely improved the foldable utility. Samsung has been ahead of its time with never-before gadgets to make life most convenient for people around the globe.

Samsung will continue to build on its legacy of unprecedented foldables, ensuring that more people can utilize them for an even more convenient life. Apple Intelligence: The Next Big Thing in AI?

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Not stopping at ChatGPT, the breed of AI integrations is coming to include Google Gemini this fall, according to Bloomberg. It would be recalled that there had been rumors swirling around Apple’s interest in Google Gemini for iOS 18 recently, and even a nod from Apple software boss Craig Federighi.

Apple Intelligence

While Apple does consider deals with Anthropic, Meta’s chatbot, Llama, was rejected over the perceived quality. Apple does not focus solely on chatbot, development goes on with Apple Intelligence, its generative AI system, which will be out in beta this fall.

Whereas other companies would want to make money with AI, not as an enabler of sticking on Apple hardware—Apple could have subscription-based Apple Intelligence features, giving more enhanced AI experiences to customers who use them. However, this rollout will take months.

Apple Intelligence will first be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, how this actually affects ambiance cycles for iPhones is yet to be known. The efficacy of these features shall be seen in due course, but Apple shall continue to have a cut from in-app purchases through the chatbot subscriptions of AI partners.

 iPhone 15 Pro (Apple Intelligence)

Third-party AI services will be the stopgap for Apple until it further builds out its internal generative AI system. This will give users more choice, even if it does ultimately come down to what amounts to variations on algorithmic data reconstruction.

It’s changing its AI strategy to expand its AI ecosystem, directly monetize AI, and give more choices to users. What will be exciting is how these developments will impact the future of AI and user experience.

Teamviewer Targeted by Russian Hackers in Latest Cyberattack

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

The German software company TeamViewer claimed that a few days ago, a Russian hacker group known as APT29 carried out a cyberattack against them. The group, which is also recognized as “Cozy Bear” or “Midnight Blizzard,” is believed to be working on behalf of Russia’s foreign spy agency.

According to report from Reuters, the hackers on Wednesday managed to access the company’s corporate IT environment. However, one very important fact is that the attackers were not able to access the company’s product environment or customer data.

Teamviewer's Cyberattack

It showed that the hacking squad was aiming at the German entities when, in March, Mandiant, a cybersecurity unit of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, exposed APT29 for launching a phishing email attack on key political figures in Germany.

This news has seen Teamviewer shares fall 10% on one of their worst days since 2023. The cyberattack has raised questions about the preparedness for security breaches and the possible implications this would have on its business.

Cyberattack

The incident has once again brought the issue of Russia-linked hackers as a continued threat to businesses and organizations across the globe. APT29 is said to have conducted countless cyberattacks on governments, businesses, and individuals.

Attack on TeamViewer should remind us to set up a more secure cybersecurity strategy in order not to become a soft target of such wordy threats. Companies need to stay vigilant and make investments in security solutions to contain the risks that accompany cyberattacks.
