Xbox Series X: New 2024 Models Available for Pre-Order Today

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Pre-orders for the 2024 Xbox consoles are finally live. In the new lineup, there will be an all-digital Xbox Series X, a Special Edition 2TB Xbox Series X, and a white Xbox Series S. The consoles are set to be shipped to customers in the U.S. on October 15.

The all-digital Xbox Series X is the first of its class with no disk drive. It will be available in “robot white” and will have 1TB of storage. It costs $450, so it’s $50 off the regular model—you can occasionally find the regular model for that price when it goes on sale.

Unlike the PS5, this disc-free Xbox SeriesX doesn’t save space in your entertainment center. Microsoft has confirmed that the new model is of the exact dimensions as the version with a disc drive. That means the advantage related to saving space isn’t there.

On the other end, for those willing to fork over more cash, there is a 2TB Special Edition Xbox Series X. It will come in “galaxy black” with a spacey design and it will retain the standard disc drive. That’ll cost buyers $600.

Xbox Series X

While this new white Xbox Series S comes with 1TB of storage, it succeeds a black version launched last year. These consoles shall be available in almost every area where Xbox is supported, but a few countries are exempted. However, the dispatch shall follow on October 29 in some of the countries.

Google has announced some serious upgrades for Gmail’s “Help me write” features, including a new “Polish” tool that can turn rough notes into well-structured emails. Users will be in a position to write formal drafts at rapid speed, improving the overall experience of writing emails.

The “Polish” option is part of the Refine My Draft feature in Gmail that users can leverage to access informal notes and turn them into well-penned mail at the click of a button. The feature is now live in Gmail for web and mobile, boosting the efficiency of email drafting.

Help me write

Besides “Polish,” Google is adding new shortcuts to Help me write on Android and iOS. These shortcuts will pop up once users either start an empty email draft or when they write over 12 words. Swiping through the shortcut opens a diversity of tools like Polish, Formalise, and Elaborate.

These are all new features destined to simplify email drafting on Gmail. Improvements coming from the product team at Google cater to people scrambling for quick, effective tools to write emails. For now, availability is limited only to subscribers of Google Workspace with add-ons from Gemini.

These updates further fine-tune Gmail into an even stronger communication tool. Features such as these mean a step ahead taken by Google in bettering user productivity and the overall experience of using Gmail.

Microsoft has finally announced that it will launch a unified Microsoft Teams app for personal and work accounts. This long-awaited update will allow users to switch seamlessly between personal, work, and education accounts in one app. The improved interface is available now for Windows and Mac users without the need for multiple installations.

Microsoft Teams

Previously, if someone wanted to access Microsoft Teams for personal usage and work or school, they had to download two different instances of Teams applications. It became confusing and frustrating at times, especially when handling the notifications. This new app makes that go away—it’ll let you log in with both your personal and work accounts and use them side by side.

Microsoft Teams

Besides switching accounts, the updated app also bolsters the notification system. A user should now find it much easier to tell to which account a notification belongs, improving overall usability. Microsoft also added guest access without requiring a sign-in, making it more flexible for various needs.

Microsoft Teams

The new unified Microsoft Teams app has been in testing for much of this year. Microsoft wants to make the user experience smoother and more cohesive with this update. Deployment is done automatically for existing users on Windows and Mac.

Ultra HDR Image Editing Improved: Google Now Retains Quality

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

One of the biggest issues with Ultra HDR image has finally been fixed in Google Photos. Currently, editing an Ultra HDR image strips it of its Ultra HDR quality. That was a limitation frustrating to people who want to enhance their photos without losing that high dynamic range.

However, now Google has updated the Photos app to allow basic edits without giving up Ultra HDR. According to Artem Russakovskii on X, first reported, now users will have the ability to crop, rotate, and so on while still maintaining the image in its enhanced quality.

Before this, Google Photos wasn’t handling HDR images very well, it was removing critical brightness data in the process. The reason Google made duplicate copies of edited photos so that HDR would be retained in the original photo was partly due to this problem. With all these efforts, it was far from being perfect and has been causing much dissatisfaction among users.

Ultra HDR image

Now, it seems like Google wants to take its HDR and Ultra HDR image handling seriously. This is a welcome change by Google toward enhancing the user experience with this recent update.

This change makes Google Photos much easier to use, especially for people who care about editing at a high level. This change shows promise for a seamless photo editing experience.

Yaber T2 Plus Available Now in Malaysia

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

After its US release in June, the Yaber T2 Plus has made a final stop in Malaysia. This projector doubles as a speaker and arrived two months ago on the local shores. The 29 cm high projector is more of a speaker than it is a projector, so the design overall leans towards versatility.

Yaber T2 Plus

The Yaber T2 Plus is sizeable but still manageable at 2.4 kg. It features a handle acting as a stand, providing a 15-degree upward tilt for the projector. Battery life reaches as much as 18 hours of playtime with just the speaker on, though that number plummets to a mere 2.5 hours when the projector is on. Resolution is full HD, and brightness comes in at 450 ANSI lumens.

Yaber T2 Plus

The main difference that distinguishes the Yaber T2Plus from the regular model is that it features a Google TV dongle, further giving it distinction from the basic model not available locally. This makes it more functional and provides complete entertainment.

Yaber T2 Plus

The price for the Yaber T2 Plus is RM1,799 and is now available at official Shopee and Lazada stores. If you prefer to buy it in-store, it will be on the shelves starting 26 August.

All things considered, the Yaber T2 Plus does bring out a good balance between projecting and listening. The inclusion of dual functionality and the Google TV dongle makes this projector a very notable addition to the portable projector market.

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

Recent reports suggest that the new iPad will feature a robotic arm. According to Bloomberg, this gadget will arrive with a robotic limb and actuators meant to adjust the orientation of its screen. This feature is expected to respond to commands like “look at me,” enhancing user interaction.

iPad

A Taiwanese outlet called United Daily News fingered the maker as Foxconn. Foxconn will provide the robotic arm, making the company famous for churning out of Apple’s iPhones. Production will be managed by Hongzhun, which is a subsidiary experienced in the production of robotic components.

iPad

It could also run a modified version of the iPadOS, according to the same report. That contrasts earlier MacRumors claims that stated it would use tvOS. Now, with iPadOS mentioned, it suggests a UX quite different from what was originally expected.

iPad

Although these details are juicy enough, making them intriguing, it is important to be cautious in these kinds of leaks. There are some conflicting reports on the device’s software and hardware, which should be taken with a grain of salt. The final details are uncertain until the official announcements.

While the robotic arm and the modified iPadOS do integrate to give off a very promising vibe, it does not give any verified information at this point. It will have to wait for Apple to formally confirm the features once it finally arrives on the new iPad.

Vivo Y03t Released in Malaysia with Reduced Processor Power

Reading Time: 2 minutes read

The Vivo Y03t has been silently released as an entry-level smartphone. Going by its name, it might get confused with the Y03 that was launched earlier this year. The Y03t carries almost the same design but comes with a less powerful processor. Surprisingly, it has the same price tag as that of its predecessor.

The Vivo Y03t comes with a 6.56-inch 720p LCD, complemented by a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak of 528 nits brightness. It has the Unisoc T612 chipset, coupled with 4GB RAM. There is 128GB of internal storage on offer and a microSD card slot for further expansion.

Vivo Y03t

For photography, the Vivo Y03t sports a 13MP main camera and a depth sensor. It has a 5MP front-facing camera that will be seated in a teardrop notch. It supports a 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging and has dust and water resistance with an IP54 certification.

Available in green and black, it will be available in Vivo’s online store, with pricing pegged at RM399 – the same as the original Y03. For a similar asking price, minimal upgrades are presented by the Y03t over its earlier model.

Vivo Y03t

The Vivo Y03t still fares pretty well against most budget smartphones available on the market. Its bundle of features, price point, and solid build alone make for a compelling argument for entry-level users.
