A “kill switch” is a safety feature that immediately stops something from working. This could be a setting within your online banking or investment account that lets you freeze or block your account or a physical device like a hardware wallet that allows you to quickly disconnect it from the internet.
The Kill Switch is a security feature to protect your money from scams. You can use it through the Maybank2u web or MAE app. There are two ways to use it: Block Cards and Deactivate Maybank2u access. Block Carde stops all outgoing transactions from your Maybank Credit/Charge Card. Deactivating Maybank2u access logs you out from all active sessions and blocks any further login attempts.
Benefits of Kill Switch
If you think someone scammed you, you can keep your money safe right away. Online scammers won’t be able to use your bank cards or Maybank2u account. Your online banking will be more secure because you need to prove your identity to Maybank before you can reactivate your account.
How to activate Kill Switch
To activate the Kill Switch on your Maybank account, you can use either the MAE app or Maybank2u web. If you’re using the MAE app, you need to go to ‘More’, then select ‘Kill Switch’. Choose the feature you want to block and authorize the transaction using Secure2u.
If you’re using Maybank2u web, log in to your account and go to ‘SETTINGS’, then select ‘SECURITY’ and click on ‘Kill Switch’. Choose the feature you want to block and authorize the transaction using Secure2u.
To keep your payment cards safe, you need to go to the nearest Maybank branch or call 1300886688 to reactivate them. This is a security measure to prevent scammers or unauthorized people from accessing your cards. You cannot reactivate your cards without verifying your identity through this process.
Maybank introduced a “Kill Switch” feature to let users temporarily disable access to their online accounts and freeze their Mae cards. This helps to improve security by logging out users from all active sessions on Maybank apps and websites.Secure2u is now the only authorization method for online transactions of any amount since April 5. The CEO of Maybank’s community financial services said the Kill Switch is part of efforts to create a safer digital ecosystem due to scammers becoming bolder and more creative. Scammers may use social engineering methods to deceive customers and steal their money.
