Overall, LG’s OLED evo series TVs have been recognized for their eco-friendly design and efforts toward reducing plastic waste.

LG announced that their 2023 OLED evo series TVs received certifications from Carbon Trust and SGS for reducing CO2 emissions and being environmentally sustainable. Carbon Trust helps companies move towards a “Net Zero” future, and SGS certifies sustainable products. Both organizations inspected LG’s TVs from production to disposal. Overall, LG’s OLED evo series TVs are recognized for their eco-friendly design and efforts toward reducing plastic waste.

LG OLED evo series TVs use composite fiber material and metal, making them lighter and more durable than LCD TVs. They require 40% less plastic and have reduced LG’s plastic use by 20,000 tons. Thanks to the composite fiber material, some OLED evo models are 20% lighter than LCD TVs, reducing CO2 emissions during transit. The back cover of select LG OLED evo, QNED, and NanoCell TVs was released in 2023 using recycled plastic material, reducing waste and achieving a recycling effect of 3,200 tons per year in TV products.

LG OLED TVs require fewer components than conventional LCD TVs due to their self-lit display technology, eliminating the need for a separate backlighting structure. Fewer parts mean fewer resources used per unit, less plastic, and e-waste at the end of their operational life. According to Baik Sun-pil, leader of LG’s Home Entertainment Company’s Product Development Division, the OLED evo series is designed to provide an immersive viewing experience while minimizing the product’s impact on the environment. LG aims to pursue more ESG initiatives and responsible practices as the leader of the OLED TV market.

LG OLED has been a leading TV brand since 2013, continuously improving its technologies. LG has introduced innovative products such as the world’s first rollable TV and bendable TV. The 2023 OLED evo series is a new addition to LG’s lineup of self-lit TVs, available in 125 countries. LG has received recognition for its ESG efforts, including a place in the DJSI World and a “Comprehensive A grade” from KCGS.
