Jony Ive, Chief Design Officer is leaving Apple

One of the main reason people are still going after Apple products during each of its product launches is because of the design of its product. Do you know, each of Apple products is design by a single person? Jony Ive is the Chief Design Officer who designs all the Apple products starting from the iMac in 1998 until the current Apple Park. Jony Ive will be officially leaving the company by end of this year to start up his own design firm called LoveForm.

Jony Ive’s departure was first announced by Apple on its official website. From the announcement, it is clearly stated, Sir Jony Ive will be leaving Apple to form his own design company. Interestingly, Apple will be one of his primary clients where Jony Ive will be working closely with Apple to design a different range of products.

Statement from Apple’s CEO Tim Cook:

“Apple will continue to benefit from Jony’s talents by working directly with him on exclusive projects, and through the ongoing work of the brilliant and passionate design team he has built. After so many years working closely together, I’m happy that our relationship continues to evolve and I look forward to working with Jony long into the future.”

Many people say it is officially the end of Steve Job era because Jony Ive is one of the pioneers who worked with Steve Jobs and now he is leaving at the end of this year. According to Apple, Evans Hankey, Vice President of Industrial Design and Alan Dye, Vice President of Human Interface Design will be reporting to Jeff Williams who is the Chief Operating Officer at Apple. According to Jony Ive, he is confident the design team will succeed under the leadership of Evans, Alan, and Jeff.

Jony Ive is the voice-over guy for Apple product video

Other than that, Jony Ive is the main voice-over guy for most of Apple various product videos. Jony Ive lends his voice for the latest “cheese grater” Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR video.
