An astonishing event occurred this month involving an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9. During a mid-air incident, a door plug malfunctioned, resulting in the loss of several passenger belongings. Remarkably, an iPhone encased in a Spigen Cryo Armor survived a plummet from approximately 16,000 feet.
Sean Bates, who discovered the iPhone in Portland, shared photos of the device, revealing its protective case and screen protector. This sparked global curiosity about the manufacturers of these resilient accessories.
The Spigen Cryo Armor’s Role
On January 13th, Spigen, a prominent case manufacturer, announced through Twitter that the iPhone belonged to Cuong Tran and was safeguarded by their Cryo Armor case.
Constructed primarily from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and polycarbonate, the Cryo Armor is part of Spigen’s Air Cushion series, designed for maximum protection. Moreover, the case incorporates features like ArticFlow Tech, which uses graphite and silicon sheets for enhanced heat dissipation – a boon for avid gamers.

Innovative Design for Enhanced Protection
Further enhancing its functionality, the case boasts an AirCube pattern on the back, augmenting airflow and thermal management. Additionally, the case features ergonomic side grips, optimized for horizontal gaming, providing both comfort and utility.

Accessibility and Pricing
Interested buyers will find the Cryo Armor on Spigen’s official website, priced at USD 64.99 for the iPhone 14 and 15 series. The case is also available for the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 series, at a slightly reduced cost of USD 59.99.

In Malaysia, the case offers even more value. The iPhone 15 Pro Max variant is currently available for RM159.90 on Spigen’s Shopee store, with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra version at RM169.90.
The Malaysian Connection

In a twist to the Alaska Airlines incident, still under investigation, it emerged that the door plug was manufactured in Malaysia. Surprisingly, the plug bore handwritten inscriptions, an unusual characteristic for an aircraft component.
