Google’s ‘Find My Device’ may soon track powered-off devices

Google plans to create a way to track lost or stolen phones that are not connected to the internet. Apple already has a similar feature called” Find My” that works even if the device is turned off. Google’s feature is now being developed to work on Android phones that are turned off. On Pixel devices, the feature may be called “Pixel Power-off.”

Apple has a feature called “Find My” that helps locate iPhones and Apple Watches even if they are turned off. Google’s “Find My Device” only works when the device is turned on, making it less helpful. Losing a phone can be very stressful, but both Apple and Google have features that can help find the device’s location. However, Google’s feature is not as advanced as Apple’s because it doesn’t work when the device is turned off.

To track a lost or stolen Android phone, several conditions must be met. The phone needs to be turned on, have “Find My Device” enabled, be visible on Google Play, and be signed into a Google account. Google updated the design of its app in January with a new Material You Look. If an Android phone runs out of battery, it can still be tracked if “Store recent location” has been enabled, but most users don’t know about this feature. If all the conditions are met, the device can be tracked and located easily.
