The recent iOS 15.6 update released by Apple enables a new voice call service known as Voice Over WiFI (VoWiFI) for Celcom’s iPhone users in Malaysia. Celcom introduces the VoWiFI service which allows you to have an improved calling experience by using any WiFi network. Even if the mobile coverage is not that good especially when you are indoors, you can still make quality phone calls.

Celcom has listed several devices that support the VoWIFI service which include Apple, Huawei, Nokia, Vivo, Honor, Samsung, and Xiaomi. The list might be growing in the future with more devices though. In order to check whether your device is compatible with the service, make sure that your device is running on the latest firmware and enable VoLTE on Android or iOS smartphones.
For iPhone users, you can go to Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 15.6 update only works for iPhone 6s or newer so if your devices are eligible, you should be able to see the ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ option. To proceed, click on Settings > Mobile Data and just turn on the ‘Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone’ option. Now, you are all set.
As you all know, Celcom is not the first telco company that implements VoWIFI service as other telcos in Malaysia including Digi and Maxis and U Mobile have offered the feature to their customers in the previous years.
