During its Far Out live stream event, Apple officially launched the newest version of its popular smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 8.

Apple Watch Series 8 comes in two sizes, 41 mm and 45 mm, and has a larger edge-to-edge display than its predecessor. The new Temperature Sensor is undoubtedly the most exciting addition to the Watch Series 8. The company shows its commitment to making womenโ€™s health important by including a sensor that can keep track of the menstrual cycle, ovulation cycle and more.

Speaking of the temperature sensors, there are also brand-new temperature sensors that will constantly monitor and are supposedly sensitive enough to detect shifts of just 0.1 degrees Celsius and are set to do so every five seconds.

Moreover, as part of the forthcoming WatchOS 9 update, Apple has also included a number of new watch faces for the Series 8 that allow for greater personalization. To sweeten the deal, they also announced that all Apple Watch models (Series 4 and up) will soon be able to download and use the Nike watch faces.

Additionally, the Watch Series 8 is equipped with two new motion sensors that can determine if a major car accident has occurred. According to Apple, the feature only activates when the user is in motion. Similar to the Fall Detection feature, if the user hasn’t responded to the device after 10 seconds, it will contact emergency services. The location of the user’s device is sent to emergency responders and is also shared with the user’s emergency contacts.

As for the battery life, with normal use, Apple claims the Watch Series 8 can last for 18 hours, and with the new Low Power Mode, it can last for up to 36 hours. The latter is accessible for Watch Series 4 and later models with watchOS 9. Faster charging is also another new feature added to the Apple Watch this year.

As of right now, the Apple Watch Series 8 will be available in the United States on September 16 and onwards. The latest wearable will be available in Malaysia at some point in the near future, though an exact release date has yet to be announced.

Prices range from RM 1,899 for the base model (41 mm aluminium with GPS) to RM 3,699 for the top-end (45 mm stainless steel) model. The aluminium Series 8 Watch is available in four different colours: midnight, silver, red, and starlight. The stainless steel version, meanwhile, comes in three various colours: silver, gold, and graphite.
