Deliveries for Tesla’s much-anticipated Cybertruck have been delayed for months, and now the problem can be attributed to the gigantic windshield wiper. Posts on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum reveal that lately, lots of customers have been facing delay notices for delivery dates; in some, the reason cited is wiper malfunction.
Wiper Malfunctions Affecting Deliveries
The weekend saw some frustrated users take to the Cybertruck Owners Club forum to discuss delayed deliveries in their orders. One user said Tesla cited a pause due to a faulty wiper motor, while another reported it because of an issue with the wiper blade. Another Redditor joined the fray, saying his delivery had been held because of a problem with the windshield wiper arm. The delays continue, according to forum posts from Monday where people said they were getting notifications from Tesla about further delays.
It’s not the only issue, as owners who have already received their Cybertrucks are reporting problems with the windshield wiper. One forum member said his stopped working right after he got his vehicle, and Tesla told him it wouldn’t be able to replace its faulty wiper motor for several weeks. Another owner had a similar sentiment: his wiper never worked, and he needed two weeks to get a substitute part. There are, however, a number of users who report that their wipers work perfectly, so the problem may not be across the board.
Drive Tesla indicated that the wiper motors were failing because of an internal fault, which can be traced back to a quality-related supplier problem. Tesla has remained silent throughout, since it dissolved its press office despite repeated queries for comment.
It’s not the first hiccup for the Cybertruck. In April, Tesla issued a recall due to the accelerator pedal getting stuck. This added to a growing list of mishaps the futuristic vehicle is facing. While Tesla works on resolving these wiper issues, their customers have been in limbo, anxiously waiting on their Cybertruck deliveries.
