Malaysian users formerly known to benefit from Spotify’s Premium Family plan featuring the new change of restricting the accounts to four. Before, the plan enabled several up to six premium accounts because it provided more value to the families.
The company maintains that notwithstanding the cut in the number of accounts that an individual subscribed to the company can access monthly, the fee remains constant at RM24.90. But where users require six accounts, this service now costs RM40.70 per month.

The above change affects only Malaysians and other countries such as the U.S. retain six account restrictions. Some users may regard this new pricing as a little less attractive than before when the prices were much lower.
However, those families who want to have six premium accounts should consider other expenses in the cases of using this service. These changes are aimed to make Spotify localize its pricing strategy but the given changes may not be liked by all users.

Malaysian families subscribed to Spotify Premium should consider internalizing their Spotify subscription for a rethink or seek alternatives. This update broadens the understanding of Spotify and its growth and change of strategies and its effect on users in specific markets.
