The MYStartup Pre-Accelerator Cohort 3, in partnership with Growth Charger, showcased remarkable innovation and growth at its Demo Day, marking the end of an intensive 16-week program. This event highlighted the achievements of high-potential startups that completed proof-of-concept designs, refining their ideas and business models.
Diverse Startups Showcase Innovation
A total of 26 startups from various industries, including green technology, smart living, hospitality, and digitalisation, were part of this third cohort led by Cradle and MYStartup. During the Demo Day, twelve finalist startups presented their business ideas to a distinguished audience comprising fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, potential investors, and industry leaders. The judging panel featured notable names such as Cradle, Maybank, Cyberview Sdn Bhd, Dana Impak, Tuas Capital Partners, The Hive Southeast Asia, Jewel Digital Ventures, MBI Selangor, Orbit Malaysia, Origgin Ventures, and SBI Ventures Malaysia.
Recognizing the Top Five Startups
The event concluded with the announcement of the top five startups:
- ScancerAI: Utilizes advanced AI for early lung cancer detection through chest X-ray analysis, developed in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
- Practistica: A platform that streamlines assignment creation, grading, and analysis for teachers, featuring a comprehensive database of high-quality questions.
- StayWokeProperty: A marketplace for long-term property rentals, offering solutions for quick rentals and hassle-free property management.
- FinDoc: An AI-driven online credit screening and advisory platform providing personalized financial product recommendations and credit health advice.
- Beseek: A promptless content analysis tool performing qualitative analysis and gap analysis between private data and public knowledge.
Driving the Startup Ecosystem Forward
Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke, Group CEO of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, emphasized the vital role startups play in the ecosystem and Cradle’s commitment to fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and sustainable startup environment. He highlighted the program’s success since its inception in 2022, supporting over 100 Malaysian startups in expanding their markets and adopting advanced technological solutions.
Judging Excellence and Future Potential
Datuk Syed Haizam Jamalullail, Managing Partner at Tuas Capital Partners and The Hive Southeast Asia, praised the innovative pitches, noting the exceptional quality, creativity, and strategic vision of the startup founders. He expressed confidence in their potential for growth and impact.
Insights from the Winners
Shamsuddin Salleh, Founder of Scancer AI, described the program as pivotal in realizing his innovative ideas, preparing for market entry, and facilitating future collaborations. He emphasized the importance of mentorship, networking opportunities, and honest feedback in refining their business model and strategies.
Continued Support and Global Engagement
The top five startups, each receiving RM7,500, will join the MYStartup Market Access Programme, providing networking opportunities with key ecosystem players and potential partners globally. Growth Charger will continue to support these startups by facilitating strategic ecosystem connections and access to international investors.
A Comprehensive Mentorship Journey
Startups benefited from individual mentorship and guidance from experienced entrepreneurs over four months, along with exclusive networking events, market research access, and funding opportunities. The mentors, hailing from diverse backgrounds, were united in their commitment to shaping the next wave of entrepreneurs.
Building a Sustainable Startup Ecosystem
An initiative by the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) and powered by Cradle, the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator aims to propel early-stage and pre-seed startups. Aligned with the Malaysia Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER) 2021-2030, the program seeks to create 5,000 startups by 2025 and 10,000 coders by 2030, fostering a scalable, sustainable, and inclusive startup ecosystem.
