Gemini AI Struggles with Technical Issues at Live Demo

Reading Time: < 1 minute read

During the Made by Google event, Gemini AI had technical issues. The live demo failed twice, leaving presenter Dave Citron with a smile and the hopeful comment, “Let’s see the demo spirits are with us today.”

Initially, Citron asked Gemini to check his calendar for availability so he could see the show of Sabrina Carpenter. The AI briefly loaded before it reset. Citron repeated the efforts to get the same problem again, frustrating the audience.

The third time, a different device and Gemini worked. It checked his calendar, free when he wanted to catch Carpenter’s concert in San Francisco. Gemini took 20 seconds to check on availability.

Now that he was past the core problem, Citron told Gemini to set a reminder and add an item to the shopping list. Gemini AI set the reminder on tickets without a hitch and added “espresso” to the shopping list quite easily.

Although it had faced some glitches initially, it worked to quite an extent once it got up and running. The clear potential, and challenge, that AI technology has in real-time situations is brought out in the demo.
