Threads are testing the 24-hour expiration timer on posts like Instagram Stories. This means that soon, posts or replies would disappear a day after they were originally sent. A certain number of users already have the possibility of testing this new option. It’s similar to Twitter’s old Fleets feature, which did not attract much popularity. However, this feature might help users who often delete their posts.

The test comes several months after Threads looked into auto-archiving posts. The latter feature would let users hide posts after a set time. However, the feature did not gain wide interest from users. Threads have not rolled it out on a wide scale yet. The new 24-hour expiration timer, meanwhile seems to be an alternative.
Threads hit 200 million users by the start of early August, a growth rate so rapid that now the company has introduced an analytics tool, named Insights. Insights help to keep track of performance on a user’s account, most especially for those with large followings. This is part of the effort that Threads is making toward enhancing user experience.
Meta also says that soon, post-scheduling will be available on Threads, so users will have a better handle on the content they post. This is a combination of enabling both these features, proving Threads to have the best future approach to user feedback. Being more flexible and user-friendly is all Meta wants Threads to be.
The 24-hour expiration timer could cater to as many. That specifically targets those people who do not like permanent postings for which they will have to go back and delete those manual postings. This will unarguably be one of the vital feature enhancements on Threads.
