Just recently, features such as skipping into key moments in videos and a picture-in-picture experience while watching YouTube Shorts were added. The company is now adding a “jump ahead” button for YouTube Premium subscribers, where AI and viewership data will let viewers skip forward immediately to the part of the video they really want to see. It is now rolling out to US Premium subscribers on Android and will be coming soon to iOS users. Picture-in-Picture for YouTube Shorts is now available on Android. It lets people watch their favorite Shorts as they continue multitasking with other apps.
On top of these new features, YouTube is also investing in the development of its membership plans. It’s searching for ways to implement further paid tiers that could be more tailored to people’s needs and tastes. It could be a cheaper, ad-free tier with no other premium features or something like Spotify Duo—a membership plan that would let people share it with someone special. These changes can give YouTube Premium much wider reach and appeal among a large section of viewers.
