Water resistance unfolded first on the Galaxy Z Fold3 in 2021. Samsung applied waterproofing to the Display and Hinge. It was coated with corrosion-resistant material, a silicone-based gasket, which made sure to protect it well. Armor Aluminum used in the hinge gave it added durability. Folded thickness is further reduced to 16 millimeters to make it thinner and lighter.
Design Improvement Galaxy Z Fold4
The Galaxy Z Fold4, released in 2022, enormously diminished the weight and thickness of the device. It weighed 263 grams, 20 grams lighter than the previous one.
Samsung redesigned the hinge to be 21% lighter due to the operation mechanism of linear motion. This made the folded-back thickness go down to 15.8 millimeters, the thinnest since the series began.
