Tesla is planning to expand its presence in Malaysia by setting up a country head office and service centers. This move is expected to make it easier for Tesla owners to service their cars and also increase the likelihood of supercharging stations being installed. With Tesla’s cars soon to be sold in Malaysia, it makes sense for the company to establish an official presence in the country.

A notable detail in Tesla’s FY2022 annual report was the mention of a subsidiary called Tesla Sdn. Bhd. Previously known as Tesla Services Sdn. Bhd., this subsidiary handled the company’s accounting and finances for the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. The fact that Tesla has a subsidiary in Malaysia indicates that the company has been looking into expanding into the country for some time.

The timing of Tesla’s expansion into Malaysia couldn’t be better, as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry has recently given approval for the importation of battery-electric vehicles into the country. This means that Tesla can now import its electric cars into Malaysia and sell them to consumers. With the demand for electric cars on the rise, this presents a significant opportunity for Tesla to establish itself in the Malaysian market.
