Tecno has launched its first-ever foldable phone, the Phantom V Fold, in Malaysia. It can be pre-ordered through Urban Republic or Tecno’s online stores on Lazada and Shopee. The phone is book-styled and can be folded and unfolded like a book. It has a 6.42-inch screen when folded and a larger 7.85-inch screen when unfolded. The hinge has a unique technology that provides a seamless viewing experience when the phone is opened.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold has a powerful 5G-enabled MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset. It comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The phone also has a RAM expansion feature that can convert storage into additional virtual memory of up to 8 GB, bringing the total to 21 GB. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and power button, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC wireless connectivity.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold has a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging support via USB-C. It can be charged up to 40% in just 15 minutes and fully charged in under an hour. However, it does not support wireless or reverse wireless charging.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold has a circular camera bump on the back. It has dual 50 MP sensors for primary and 2x optical zoom telephoto shooters, and a 13 MP ultra-wide sensor. The exterior display has a 32 MP front-facing camera in a punch-hole cutout, while the interior screen has a 16 MP selfie camera on the right. The rear camera setup can record up to 4K footage at 30 fps, and both selfie cameras can shoot up to 1080p at 60 fps.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold is expected to be shipped out in Malaysia at the end of this month. It can be pre-ordered online and in-store at a discounted price of RM 4,999 until May 9, 2023. Urban Republic offers both Black and White colors, while Tecno’s Shopee and Lazada stores only offer the Black color option at this time.
