In June this year, Apple shared a sneak peek of the latest iOS 17 software update during the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). Apple introduced many cool features such as Standby mode, Nearby AirDrop, Journals and more. I have been using the iOS 17 beta software since the day 1 it was introduced and now, I would like to share my final verdict on the iOS 17 since it’s slated to launch tomorrow in Malaysia.
These are the features, I have been using daily on my iPhone 14 Pro.
1. Personalise Phone Calls

My #1 favourite feature in this iOS 17 release is the personalised phone calls. The main reason I like this feature is that I can create posters for each of my contact lists. This is something fun to do actually because I can simply create a memoji for them or maybe use an existing photo as a poster and edit it with a different colour scheme and font style. I know this feature has been on Android for many years, but I think this is something fun to use and for sure it gives me memories of them when they call me.
2. Create Live Stickers
Stickers are one of the main things I used to send on my WhatsApp conversation. Before this, I used to use some third-party apps to create stickers on my iPhone. But now with this new sticker feature, I can start creating live stickers on the go. It only takes me a couple of seconds to create a sticker of my own. All I need to do is capture a photo and hold it to add to my Stickers. Then I can use it on my iMessage and on WhatsApp conversations as well.
3. React with Hands
In iOS 17, there is a new feature that most of you are not aware of. Even I wasn’t aware of it until I used it accidentally. There is this react with hands feature on iOS 17 where I can show thumbs up during my FaceTime video call or WhatsApp video call. After learning about this feature, I started to show thumbs-ups each time during my video calls with my friends and family. I think this is one of the cool features in iOS 17 to make our video calling session more fun and interesting.
4. AirDrop Share Progress
Another feature I would like to share about the iOS 17 is the new AirDrop feature. Using this new feature now, I can send large file sizes through AirDrop and view the progress in the Dynamic Island. With this feature, I can simply look at the blue circle and get to know the progress of it. Before this, when I sent large files like videos, I wasn’t able to know the status of the transfer until I got the notification. Most of the time the transfer will fail due to large size, but now, I can say this is one of the best features of the AirDrop since it was launched years ago.
5. Autofill Verification Code
My favourite feature in iOS 17 will be the autofill verification code. I think most of you will love this feature if you are dealing with verification codes daily. Like me, I am dealing with verification codes daily which is sometimes very disturbing. The reason is that I need to copy the codes each time I receive or open my messages or email to type in the code. But now with the iOS 17, this is not a pain the ass anymore because it can autofill my verification codes.
In conclusion, I have been using iOS 17 for a couple of months and I am truly satisfied with it. If you are also considering the upgrade then wait until 1 AM Malaysian Time today and start downloading the iOS 17 on your iPhone.
