Your Identity card (IC/MyKad) is damaged? Or lost? Don’t worry, because there is an easier way for you to get a replacement card! You can get it done just through an online system.

All you need to do is enter some necessary details, pay the fee online and then just go to any National Registration Department (NRD) or JPN to collect your MyKad. But, before you proceed with the application, there are a few things that you need to know first.

Operating Hours of the Online MyKad Replacement System Website

  • Monday to Friday (8.00 am – 4.30 pm)
  • The system is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Types of MyKad Replacements That Are Available

Card or Chip Damage

  • Due to the physical state of the MyKad being damaged or the problem of the MyKad chip being unreadable during the verification process for certain transactions.

Card Lost

  • Applications for loss cases are limited to losses that do not exceed 1 time.

How Much Do I Have To Pay?

  • RM10 is for normal replacement categories, physical card damage and chip damage.
  • However, if you want to replace a lost MyKad, the charge is as shown below.

Here’s How To Make A MyKad Replacement Card Online:

  1. Register on MyGOV (https://malaysia.gov.my/portal/register/)
  2. Check email, and follow instructions. Create a password.
  3. Go to the website https://gantianmykad.jpn.gov.my/. Then, Click Login.
  4. You will be taken to another website (https://uap.malaysia.gov.my). Click Password.
  5. Log in with the IC and password set as created earlier.
  6. Click Apply here.
  7. Press Agree and Read the conditions because they are important for the collection process at NRD later.
  8. Press Agree. Then, fill in all the information. Select the replacement type and NRD branch for you to collect MyKad.
  9. Next, make the payment as requested (RM10 or follow the set fee if the IC is lost).
  10. Once payment is completed, the main page will show ‘In Process’ if the transaction is successful.
  11. To know when your IC is ready for collection, Check the status at http://semakan.jpn.gov.my/semak_kpt from time to time.

For your information, if you want to renew your IC and need to update your picture, it is advisable to go to the NRD office as it is easier to identify if there are any changes between your current look with the old one. Moreover, a replacement for MyKad that is lost for the second time and above cannot be done online either, so you still need to go to an NRD branch.

As most of you might know, your IC can also be used for the Touch ‘n Go-related payments. The TNG function on each MyKad is subject to a 10-year period. So, you need to replace the new IC if the TNG function on your MyKad has expired.
