Google officially released its first premium smartwatch with full functionality called the Google Pixel Watch. The Google Pixel Watch is a stylish addition to the Pixel family, bringing together the best of Google’s smarts and assistance with Fitbit’s expertise in health and fitness.
To start with its specifications, the Google Pixel Watch is only available in one size which is a 41mm case with a domed, scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 5 crystal. The Gorilla Glass 5 is intended to protect the wearable’s 1.2-inch AMOLED display, which has a maximum brightness of 1000 nits and a pixel density of 320ppi.
In terms of its design, Google claims that the bold, circular 3D domed glass seamlessly blends into the stainless steel body, giving it a slim appearance on the wrist. It is both water- and scratch-resistant (up to 5 ATM/50 metres).
Moreover, the Pixel Watch runs on an Exynos 9110 SoC with a Cortex M33 co-processor and 2GB of RAM. There’s also 32GB of storage and a 294mAh battery that, according to Google, can last up to 24 hours and be recharged to 50% in 30 minutes via the magnetic charging plate.
You can also stay up to date with Gmail, check out the Google Calendar and make payments through Google Wallets and get directions from Google Maps. You can also download apps like Adidas Running, Calm, Spotify, MyFitnessPal, and Strava from the Google Play Store and use them without even taking your watch off your wrist.
Most importantly, the wearable monitors your electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, and sleep patterns. Additionally, users’ vital signs can be tracked in real-time via a unique life heart rate.
Google Pixel Watch costs $349 for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and $399 for 4G LTE, with six months of Fitbit Premium and three months of YouTube Music Premium included (available in applicable markets). The price of accessory bands ranges from $49 to $199.
The Google Pixel Watch is available for pre-order today from the Google Store, Fitbit.com, and other global retailers and carriers. It will go on sale in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, and Taiwan on October 13. However, the Pixel Watch, along with the rest of Google’s Pixel line, won’t be available in Malaysia.
