Google is refreshing its Meet app to include new features in personal video calls. According to The Verge, the update will update the user interface and give more call controls. The new interface will be from the same design as the meeting interface, whereby it will be easier to manage your calls.

Now, in-call messaging within Google Meet supports personal calls. Links or comments can be shared in the middle of a call, which will let people communicate in a much more engaging and interactive way. Emoji reactions are also available that let people express themselves visually while on group calls.
Another cool feature is that effects, such as backgrounds and filters, can be stacked. This brings more personalization related to calls to the end-user. Screen sharing is now supported in personal calls, adding more functionality to the app.
The calling app interface will be updated to give users an option for audio-only calls. Moreover, it has bigger buttons and is overall a better user experience. Additionally, Google has enabled a seamless transition of calls between PC and Android devices.
This update continues the gradual integration of Duo into Meet, but these new features require users to update their apps. The rollout is happening slowly, so it may take time for all the new features to be visible.
