Google is designing a major redesign of Gboard in preparation for the official arrival of Android 15. The refresh will introduce a spate of new features, such as a dedicated keyboard switcher button, to offer more convenience to the user. The Android 15 update is about to be pushed out, and its first stop will indeed be Pixel devices. It is here that this update for Gboard will finally arrive with the first QPR1 of Android 15.

Currently, users have to enter settings or press the spacebar to switch between keyboards. This keyboard switcher button, however, makes it easier by allowing the user to just tap to quickly switch between keyboards. The long press gesture for switching keyboards is said to be disabled for Google.

The redesign of Gboard also brings improved autocorrect, and there will be options to correct sentences. This means that users will get a choice of whether they want to correct only words or both words and sentences. Second, Google intends to add an edit button to the customization menu for more control.

While these features are not live yet, it is expected that they will be any moment now. Features like this can be expected from the Android 15 QPR1 update, which will then make Gboard further functional.

The new Gboard design symbolizes Google’s continued effort at bettering the experience in most not all of their apps.
