Apple’s Clean-Up Tool in iOS 18.1 for Better Photo Editing

Recently, Apple gave a preview of iOS 18. One of the features it highlights is AI capabilities. Among them is the Clean Up tool. Now available through the iOS 18.1 beta, it soon will make its way to public release. It aims at allowing higher-class photo editing facilitated by advanced AI features.

Clean Up requires the latest OS beta running on the respective devices, models such as the iPhone 15 Pro and higher, M-powered iPads, and Macs. It’s a tool that integrates with the Apple Neural Engine for offline processing. Once it’s originally set up with you, you’ll have fast access to the option in the Photos application.

The three major uses of the Cleanup tool are to remove unwanted objects such as passersby at the back, to heal the skin and smoothen blemishes, as well as dust parts on the photos, and it can also pixelate the faces if required. Notably, manipulated photos are marked in the EXIF data.

Early tests indicate Clean Up is shaping up as a very strong editing tool. Improve photos with less hassle. Later this year, it will be globally released, and people can look forward to the fact that photo editing may be a whole lot easier.
